Replacement Para2 scales from Lucas

#1

Post by phillipsted »

I ordered a pair of replacement scales for my grey 20CP Para2 last week from Lucas at Cuscadi. He is great to deal with. I was looking for some burgundy linen micarta. He recommended leaving them "pocket worn" for better grip, and I heartily agreed. To my surprise, he sent me the following pictures last week right before he shipped them (the scales are mounted on one of Lucas' S30v Para2s)...

I'll post some additional pictures once the scales have landed and I've installed them on the 20CP sprint.

Very nice, Ted. Can't wait to see your pix when u post them. Did Cuscadi have a lot of material options available for your scales or did you have to choose from an "in stock" list of materials? How long did the order/production process take? I'd like to have a custom set done for one of my PM2's also.

Every time I see shots of these I want to put in an order with them. They do great work. I do worry a little about changing scales myself since I am a total newb. Let me know if it's difficult to change the scales on yours. I like the choice on this one. Great looking scales.

Prospero - Lucas seems to have a variety of scale material in stock - including some real exotics. In my case, he said that he only had one small piece of this burgundy micarta left - and it was big enough to make my scales. My fallback option was to put natural (brown) micarta on it - basically the same material that is on the Temp2.

And jtoler, I've taken apart a PM2 for cleaning - and it isn't hard too hard. The only difficult part was the lanyard tube, which is slightly flared and friction fit. You have to be careful with getting it off and on. Otherwise, everything is just screwed together.

Cuscadi are really good to deal with. I like how you always get a few pics when they are finished and then ship the knife with scales to you.

I got my 'worn' brown micarta scales the other day.. They look awesome! Kind of like old, beat-up leather.

Installed them tonight on my brown para. I'll post pics (sure to be crappy, and won't do the scales justice) when the sun's up. :)

Luke is great to deal with. I have a set of pool green G10 scales for a Delica on order as well as a set of "vintage" micarta scales for one of those other knives with a butterfly on. The textured G10 scales he did for one of my Griptillians changed it from "cheap plastic" into a regular use knife of great beauty!! Amazing quality work he does.

This deserves more praise, looks so good. Gonna order some of those for my Para2 and Mini-grip ASAP :)
