I love them all, I can't imagine trading or selling any of them, sorry. The one I'd really like to own is the dual bladed one I've seen pics of on this forum. "Now that's a KNIFE!!!!" I thought I pretty much had one of each, but after reading hawkbill's post I see I have some more looking/shopping to do!!!!!!!

Used to own one... it left the collection when I was cleaning house to make room for new stuff. I bought it to carry as a SD tool, and realized I couldn't legally carry it where I wanted to at the time(college campus). Since then I've been concentrating on only buying what I use, and for SD I've since become convinced that a few (or a bunch if necessary) 124gr.+P Gold Dots are more effective at repelling bad guys. I'll pick one up sometime when I have the spare cash though, looks mean sitting on the shelf

Hawkbill,

Without diggin' into the safe for a sure count, Ithink I've got you beat, I've got every variation of the Civvie including two G-10s without the liner (was travel EDC before the Matriarch came out). Count is at least twelve, maybe thirteen.

WOW Mike!!! I guess I shouldn't be surprised that you (of all people) might have 'em all. The only G-10 liner-less I have is the GIN-1 bladed model. Was another done w/ATS-55? My ATS G-10's are both with liners.

By the way, that quick deployment sheath for the Spyderench you made is working famously, thanks again.

I own one, aluminum w/ tuffram, spyderedge

One reason I don't carry it is that the clip w/ tuffram insert sticks too much to my pocket or waistband. Plus it's tip down, everything I carry is tip up, I like the feel better. Still it's a cool knife.

Brian,

Got one of the linerless Civilians in Gin-1 and one in ATS-55. Sold the third, so don't know what that was, but it did go to someone in your state. Glad you like your SpydeRench sheath!! Sending some more out to SFO any day now.

Hi Krazie and everybody,
I've got one as well G-10 SE ATS-55. It's a backup to my G-10 PE Police.Love it.
My Matriarch is a good companion of my FRN 50/50 Endura or my SE FRN Native, and my G-10 Harpy SE is the pal of my....Yess..G-10 Rookie SE in the smaller-blade-quicker-cut category.

Uh, that Harpy is dam'n li'l pocket chainsaw.
And yes, I like to wear them in pairs.

Mike:
Thanks for the pointer on the early ATS-55 G-10 Civie...now I know that one can be found w/o liner, so off I go on the search.

I own a CF plain edge Civilian that should be arriving any time now. I ordered it along with a Mike Sastre neck sheath to fit it. Hope it makes a good carry rig!

Just bought one LNIB, with papers and case, for only $75!!!! It's made of GIN-1 steel so I imagine that it may be from one of the first batches of this Spydie model.

Well, it won't replace my Gunting for EDC, but my current production Civi makes a wonderful hideout/backup knife, and is usually with me or nearby. After some bad experiences, I have mostly stopped carrying a hideout/backup firearm on duty, so I do take my Spydies very seriously.

I just bought another, the current model I believe, with G-10 handle scales, ATS-55 blade, and the Boye dent in the release lever. I will order the training tape from James Keating soon. I will move the clip to the tip-up-carry position, for use in the left front pocket, and practice using my left ring finger for opening to a reverse grip. (My first one is carried tip-down for right-hand use.)

Rex,

I would be throughly fascinated to know why you prefer to carry a backup knife instead of a backup gun; perhaps on another thread?

I do carry a backup gun, but often do not wear it full-time anymore. I have had two of them bail out of ankle holsters while running. My most common carry method now is inside the pocket, which means hip pocket since the front pockets do not enable a smooth draw unless I am standing up straight. I usually have an AR15, and sometimes a shotgun within reach while inside the vehicle. I am not shy about carrying a long gun with me when I get out of the vehicle, if the nature of the call allows this. (Working night shift helps.) Regarding handgun reliability, I am merciless about "culling" unreliable weapons, so weapons malfunction is unlikely. I am a strong believer in the concept of carrying backup weapons, but for me, right now, it is not an "always" thing.
