Has there ever been an Endura produced without the Spyder Logo engraved on the blade?

I went to one of my favorite pawn shops today and found what I hope is an Endura. If it is a real Spyderco I think it is an older model. It is the black plastic handle with Volcano grip. The clip is molded into the handle and the blade is AUS-8 from Seki City Japan. I don't have time to post pictures but I just noticed that the only logo is on the handle. I'm ok with it being a fake, as I didn't pay much and it will be a good camping knife so I don't abuse my other sypdies.

Now on the other hand if this is an early generate Endura than it won't see any camping. It will get cleaned up and go into the EDC rotation.

I'll post pictures of it tomorrow if there isn't a definitive answer.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hey rnb,
I'm not 100% sure, but i don't think any early spyderco's had a bug logo on the blade.
I have an early d1 with the molded clip, and it has no bug.
Like i said, i'm not totally sure about all the other models.
Later,
Don

Sounds real to me. It what we call a gen 1 endura. Is also sounds like it is from the last run before the model known as the endura 3.
We would rather be the knife in your pocket, because is "works" better, than the knife in your showcase, because it "looks" better.

The Early 1990s models didn't

A few years back I used to own one of the older Green handled Endura models from the 90s that didn't even have the blade steel embossed on it  The clip was totally different than anything I had ever seen and I do believe the steel was either G-2 or GIN-1. It was a combo edge and it didn't have any bug/spydie on it at all I do remember that distinctly.

Just curious why do you not like the bug emblem? It really doesn't both me one way or the other. But I've heard others complain about it as well

I don't remember the early Delica models ever having the bug emblems either.

You do have to go back a few years that's for sure.

Sounds like a legit 1st generation. Mine is as you describe. The side that the clip is on isn't textured and the pivot pin is housed in a raised section. The grip on the other side has "straight" joints in both directions rather than the current volcano pattern. If yours is a fake, mine came from the same guy ... as did the Delica 1 I have.

Great info thanks. I do like the emblem. I was just curious if it was real. PSquared, it is the twin of the bottom one. I'll post pictures soon.

Riot, I will use it for camping. I was typing fast and didn't finish a thought. If it turned out to be a fake it would have went into the camping box and not in the drawer for an EDC. I haven't been into Spyderco that long and am pretty exicted to luck into a Spyderco with, in my opinion, has a pretty good amount of history. For clarifaction this is a real Spyderco, i haven't heard that anyone thinks it is a fake. All, thanks for the help.

Now I just need to clean it and restore the edge. It has 3 dings as they are larger than clips out of the blade.

My 2 cents, pawn shops are a great place to look for Spydies.

That Endura was the ones made after the Gin1 aka G-2 . 93-95 they came out IIRC.

I had the whole line up until 3rd Gen.

Delicas are the same way also.

They come is colors , I had all the colors ( now gone) :(

Nice, I had a 357 same size and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it. Also, I had to make sure I had plugs and muffs on or i couldn't hear for a day or so. I gave it to my brother in law. so I still get to see it every now and then. Great pic.

From the pics posted I'm thinking that mine is a Gen 1. Is that correct?
