This is next on my list ; I'm REALLY sick & tired of hearing on Bladeforums.com about how fixed blades are superior to folders, so I'll shoot for this fixed one. It's of course smaller ( and more compact ) than the "common faire" tanto's on the market, which is why I like it. If it MUST be a fixed blade I'll stake my @$$ on this one and let the "chairborne commandos" be damned.

Any REASONABLE opinion(s) from you forumites

out there?

You're right. Folders kick @ss when compared to fixed blade knives. A folder is about 1/2 the size of a fixed blade with the same size blade, Most fixed blades are hard to carry around for every day use and they don't have a pocket clip.
Stick with the folders they're the best for anything. I even take my folder hunting!
Take care and till next time remember:

mmmm... talking about the Lum Tantos, they are my favourites.. You can't stop admiring these s and I think Spyderco had done an excellent job with the FB03! You can't go wrong with the fixed blade Lum.. Every dollar and cent you put in makes this knife an incredible work of art..

ATE,
It is a Lum Tanto by .

Do I need to say more? I have always found tantos to be hardy versital blades, fixed or folding. If you really want a fixed for EDC for possible defensive use and this tanto seems too large look at Masters of Defense, Ayoob, Razorback. Otherwise I think you will be perfectly happy with a folding Lum Tanto.

Hi, ATE. The tantos are one of my favorite blades. Though, I'm ashamed to admit that the BL Tanto does not hit the spot. I don't have one, but as I saw in the pics, the handles make an unnatural angle with the blade, which does not seem comfortable to me. (Just my humble oppinion). But I like the 46GBK (the folding one).

I guess it's just my "fixation" with things
from the Orient DiALEX ; I have a Junglee
"Yakuza" I practically stole from The
Sportsman's Guide ( about half it's MSRP ),
thing is, at about 11" it's kinda big, so I
think the Lum would be optimum. I used to have a Blackjack Knives Highland Dirk ( boo,
hiss! ) I used to carry in a pocket holster
I made which I REALLY loved, had it taken from me though I guess it's want of something lost ( or something like that ).
Oh well.
