how many of you would be interested in this:

VG-10 Endura FRN, flat ground, with a 5" blade?

the Endura is so size efficient that the overall length would only be about 5 1/2", a bit longer that the Military.

what do you think ? <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Such a mega folder would have a rather narrow market, due to a variety of reasons.

Knife Knut on a shoestring budget.

it would give the "other" knife company a little competition in the big folder market, sure it wouldn't be for everyone but it would be SO <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> COOL ! <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>...the police and military would be great if you could get FRN.

Spyderco's stated policy is not to make folders with blades longer than ~4" mainly due to the technical issues of lock strength and reliability with a blade capable of exerting that much leverage on the lock.

With all the new high strength materials coming out in the market. maybe the time has come for the policy to change!!!

Just my personal opinion!!<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Then please tell me just why my Cold Steel Vaquero Grande (with its' 6 inch-long blade), or my REKAT Sifu (with its' 5.4 inch-long blade) hasn't self-destructed in my hand...Aren't Spyderco folders built just as strong as these???

The issue of very large folders has been around for centuries.
Over time the number of them has always been small due the
fact that much beyond 4" a fixed blade is much safer. Experianced
knife users (Not collectors) will bear witness to that fact.

So my only comment on a very large spydie is .....Why?
