3 years and well worth the wait!!!! (Orange Dodo content)

Post by StangBang »

Well I know many of us have been waiting for this one for a LONG time. Spyderco stepped up and heard our cries and produced one of the best sprints of all time.

Harrison, my long time buddy (since 4th grade lol) AKA SpyderHS08 started a thread back in 2009 asking Spyderco to make an orange dodo sprint and we now have one. So Harrison, thanks bro for starting it all!!! :)

Thank you Sal, Eric and the rest of the Spydercrew!!! This is just another reason why you guys are the best Knife Company out there!!!

So here are some pics of my favorite Spyderco, joined by its earlier brother :spyder:

And my pup was looking too cute the day I took these pics that I had to share one with you :D (oh and don't worry, that Cox wire flag was picked up immediately. She is 6 months old and is finding all kinds of new exciting toys!!!!

Thanks for looking guys, hope you enjoyed ;)

Nice pics. I got mine yesterday afternoon, first Dodo I've had. Looking forward to the next sprint as well!

I too just got my Dodo and wanted to say thanks to the Spydercrew. I can't wait for the CF version with the ceramic ball if that's going to happen.

Wow, 3 years in the making? I did not realise.

In that case I feel extra fortunate to have gotten one (it was a bit of an impulsive buy)... It arrived yesterday, and seems to have made nest in my RFP (for today at least) :)

I'm still trying to figure out what the attraction is to the dodo.

3 years of begging, not making :) . It took a little while for us to convince Spyderco that Orange Dodo is worth trouble making. To the best of my Eric redesigned the knife as well, which took time. And than it took only few minutes for Sal to make them. :D

Just get one and you will see.
Do not pay anything crazy and you will be able to sell, if you will not like it. But i think that you will keep it.

I wondered the same thing myself, until I got one. It looks ugly, but feels wonderful in multiple grips. The Dodo's tip is a cutting implement like none I've ever seen. The hollow grind is also something I miss on new spydercos. It is so thin behind the edge that it makes a heck of a slicer. It is only 2.25", but it feels like a 3" knife.

Agreed. I took my first look and gagged a little, but the longer I stared at it the better it got. So ordered one up when I could finally find it in stock and it's in my pocket right now. Love it!

Thanks for the comments everyone :)

It is just like everyone else said, you really have to hold and use a Dodo to appreciate it. When I first saw them (years ago) I thought they were ugly little buggers and lost interest. Then my buddy showed me his dodo and I knew I had to get one.

Another big thank you to the forum members and the Spyderco Crew for making it happen. I finally got my hands on an orange Dodo, having never owned the earlier Dodo models, I am really impressed by how light it is. Looking forward to the next variation.

Great pics Vic. That's a nice pair of knives and one nice looking dog.

I remember reading the thread about the Dodo a couple of years ago and thought that is one ugly little sucker but sometimes the ugly ones fit the hand and work the best. The more I use this knife the more I think it looks really good as well. Eric really makes some excellent knives.
