Sage 1..is it true about the CF?

#1

Post by Drkknight614 »

Just wondering if it is true that the carbon fiber scales are not all carbon fiber. But instead they are g10 with a thin layer of carbon finer on top. Anyone care to clarify?

What a crazy rumor. Any knife without the deep texture Taiwan CF would be a better candidate for that rumor.
Our reason is quite satisfied, in 999 cases out of every 1000 of us, if we can find a few arguments that will do to recite in case our credulity is criticized by someone else. Our faith is faith in someone else's faith, and in the greatest matters this is most the case.

Yeah, there's a thread right here on page 1 about this. No one knows for sure. But, it doesn't really matter anyway.

Personally I don't give a rat's rear.....it's one of my favorite Spydies. Great size, fit, and function. Everything about this knife is great.

The twill CF is great, I don't mind if it's not 100% CF.

People don't know why cf and g10 are fundamentally (more important "functionally") different. There is an excess of tin foil hats. Oh and some YouTube guy rescaled a manufactured knife with "quality cf" to make it look worse.

Otherwise no clue. It better be real though because I expect more for a world-class knife costing three family sized pizzas.

I've carried my Sage 1 for about a year now. I looked at it under a 24x loupe and the scratching is nil as in not there. These CF handles will look great long after I take the final dirt nap.

I heard these rumors and personally do not care, this is the only CF finish, which I like.

It's regular CF with a weave layer on top. So it's CF all the way through and weaved layer is just on one side.

This has been discussed before and I agree that its solid CF with a different finish on the outer visible portion.
Too many Spydies to list!

Sometimes it takes a long time for a rumor to resurface. :)

Sometimes not. :) :)

One thing for sure: I like my Sage1. Don't worry Sage1, I won't think badly of you if you have some G-10 in you. :)

Whatever it is... on the Sage1 scales, or the Chaparral for that matter, it looks and feels good. Would a lower layer of G-10 be a bad thing?

Might be a good Spyderco trivia question, if "the rumor" is true.

Sage 1 is one of my favorite Spydies. It sure looks like CF all the way through to me. But, ultimately, I don't care.
