Translucent Manix 2 review

Sorry I dont have pics. A great EDC. Large blade, very little weight. Used to help process four hogs with only using a few swipes on a steel. Used to cut cooked sausages. No staining. Still doesn't need sharpening. Great quality control from Golden. It's hard to impress an old man, but I'm impressed.

Thanks for the reivew, Joe. I've been contemplating picking one up myself. ;) All good things in good time, eh?

Enjoy your new knife. :)

Cheers,

Michael

I got this knife today and I love it.
The translucent blue scales are amazing.
Lightweight but strong, and came razor sharp!

Thumbs up

Love mine, but one thing of note, the FRCP doesn't handle falls as well as FRN.

Unfortunately so. I had it in my lap and got out of the car and it fell onto the pavement.

3 days after I got it...

This is one I keep going back and forth on. Nice knife and good to hear of the use you put it through. Update us if you can on what this knife is capable of.

Did the frcp just get scuffed. Was wondering how it would handle a fall.

Thinking of picking up a Manix 2. In a quick summary, what are the major differences between this lightweight one and the G10 one?

I don't have the G10 one, so I can't help you with that. I do find the ergonomics to be great. It's very light and pocketable with the wire clip.

I have had trouble sharpening the CTS-BD1 steel, I can't get it as sharp as my VG-10 knives. But I've been told that other people have no problem getting BD1 scary sharp so it must be my sharpening skills.

By who?

It's similar to GIN-1 so a notch behind VG10 and 154cm. For a functional edge my guess most people who can tell a difference do so by placebo alone.

It has an unusual finish, almost like some kind of coating on the blade. But it holds an edge reasonably well.

More than scuffed. It chipped.

Interesting. The greater stiffness must sacrifice some toughness. It's the old "no free lunch" principle at work again in materials science.

Great Pic.

I can see the outline of the steel liners very well.
I have been wondering about them.

Thanks you may have pushed me over the edge into getting one.

I heard there making a PS version. Any truth to that because I'll wait if they are.
My favorite Spyderco is the one I'm carrying now :p
