Tragic Loss
Tragic Loss
Just a tip, leave your spydercos in the boat when you are playing at the lake. I lost one of my Delicas (my very first Spydie, it was 8 years old.) the other day, probably while kneeboarding. I was carrying it IWB like I had done so many times before, and it disappeared sometime during the day. It had been such a faithful companion.
Anyhow, I thought it would ease the pain to hear about some of the "tragic losses" that others may have experienced. Tell us about your lost or injured Spydies, (if it's not too painful to talk about).
Mark.

spydieman,
Sorry about the wandering <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>. Maybe it will be found and cared for by someone else. So it will still be a useful tool helping some one.
To share your pain .... Somebody out there lost a <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Pro-Ventor. A few years back, this buddy of mine that was doing maintenance for a Laundromat found a Pro-Ventor (no called the Pro-Grip SS) in the dryer. It seems the previous owner must have left it clipped to his (maybe hers) clothes and didn't see it in the dryer. My buddy waited about a month before he claimed it out of lost and found.
Checking for your <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>s every few seconds is not, obsessive compulsive, it is common sense.

My dear Spydieman,
O how it grieves my heart to hear such tales of woe. <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> I do hope that you can find another Delica to replace the one that you lost. (I know it won't be the "same" but it might help.) I too have had the misfortune of "misplacing" a knife. Normally, my trouble is in the area of having my knives "walk off" with people I know. (Friends don't let friends borrow Spydies...<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>) Anyway, I think I've learned my lesson, but it was hard one. I lost two Ladybugs and a Calypso Jr.
*Spydernut leaving to wreck havoc on the misguided persons who stole his Spydies*
Peace out,
Mike

Spydieman ~ I lost my rare Mini Dyad Micarta last Monday it was clipped in my jeans watch pocket while I was at the garage jetwash/Tyre pump...never take your fav knife to the garage unless you're prepared to lose it!. I know how you're feeling I haven't felt like talking about it till now but I'm sure we'll find another replacement.

Al,
I just found (and procured) a Micarta Mini Dyad yesterday at the G&K Show. Mere co-inkydink??! Dealer swears he was nowhere near the British Isles last Monday and he wasn't pokin' about any garage jet/wash outflows. Man, sorry to hear about the loss <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Them babies are rare beauties!
Lost my very first FRN Endura I had carried through Mach 1 and many a joint services test flight program, to some unscrupulous purloiner of useful things at the semiconductor plant where I sort of work. Set my baby down with my pager while gowning up for the Clean Room and she, as well as the electronic leash, were gone in an instant. (Funny, the thief never returned any of my pages) <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
Stay safe! Stay sharp! <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I lost a cricket connected to my keys when my truck got carjacked last summer. I was upset about my Toyota but just as pissed about loosing that little knife. I had customized it and grown quite fond of it. Had to replace it with a Harpy and now have a love affair with it. Oh yeah, got the truck back but not the cricket.

I have lost two....the idiot that I am! The first was a well used large rescue with olive drab scales(green)...I found the broken clip...but the knife was gone and is somewhere in the 150 acre field where my dad and I were cutting hay.
The second was an all steel Harpy that my wife had given me....I still think it is somehwere in my house...but for the life of me I have been unable to find it! I have several Spydercos....but loosing one always makes me physically ill!
Regards,
Chuck Smith

Howdy Chuck! Welcome to <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>Land! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
Knowing me, I'd be out in the field with a metal detector, hunting for my lost <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>. OD is a rare color in the Rescue, so I'd look hard.
Unfortunately, 150 acres with a metal detector would take me till next harvest to cover. I'd then discover that knife was in my room all the time! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

S&S,
Hmmm a green rescue alone in the fields. I don't hardly see that I could wait for next harvest despite the 150 acres. We need a Rescue rescue party!!!
Tis easier to find an orange rescue
In next harvest's July morn fescue
Tis hard to be seen
When your handle is green
And a hundred plus acres for to test you
Doh!! Java woke up on wrong post again. Sorry! Some one tell 103 java was here for the Open Call for Spyderco Poetry and missed again. Thanks fer covering my tail and infusing me with the blessed cappuccino - it took the full bag to wash out the japanesegreenteaonline.com URL that was clouding the blood-brain barrier. (Just kidding, RA<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>)Was dazed and confused but I'll be back to regular java ere long. Off to earn another Spydie!!

Welcome to Spydieland Jenner.
I have lost two, an SE Milie which I carried daily for two years, then a Terzula Starmate which I carried for about a year. Used to keep em in my back poocket - nevermore.
Have replaced the old Milie with a PE version and have - sort of - replaced the Starmate with an FRN Native. Sure do miss that Starmate though. Beginning to think of using a lanyard now.
