What is your 2011 Spyderco Knife of the Year?

We're coming to the end of another year and reflecting back, it has been quite an exciting one with regard to all the Spyderco releases. After much deliberation I vote the Spyderco Vallotton Sub-Hilt Folder as my 2011 Spyderco Knife of the Year. How about you?

Chaparral would be mine, hands down. It's a lightweight, compact, sturdy, super slicer that's also attractive, fully ambidextrous, and legal carry in the city near my home. Hard combo to beat.

I'd say the Vallotton, speaking of newly released designs.

Tie between Caly 3.5 SB, and Lum Tanto for sprints.


I might have said fluted ti Military or Yojimbo 2, but I haven't been able to get one of either yet.

I'm not sure that I can pick just one. Either the GB or the lightweight ukpk. It doesn't get a lot of talk, but my ukpk has done food prep, package opening, nail cleaning, minor surgery and has even taken a ride in the washing machine and dryer...all with no issues, and just needing a light sharpening every once and a while. All for a price that was so low that it was nearly free...

The one I've certainly enjoyed the most is the Grey Para2 in CTS-20CP. I'm in love with the Para2 platform, and this is the best model so far - even better than the CF/S90V model.

The Chaparral is a class act as well...

Im going with the odd man out. This knife always draws my attention when Im looking in the drawer for something to carry. And even though it is not the best carry knife unless you have big pockets, I still like it. I cant tell you why, maybe just because its unusual/different/unique. Of the blades Ive purchased this year, its the Breeden Rescue for me.

Lotta love here for the Chaparral, but what does this knife have over the Sage? The Chaparral is a tiny bit more petite, but they seem to have pretty similar stats (IIRC) but for the extra 1/2 mil thickness in the Sage's blade.
They're both made in Taiwan, but are they both made in Taichung ?

But there were many other great knives that made it a tough choice. Caly3.5 sb, s90v para2, 20cp para2, lum tanto, m4 Manix, xhp military, super leaf, etc etc etc!
