Been collecting/trading/selling for the past 40 years, and have never spent any quality time with a Spyderco knife, I have with the Sharpmaker, but not the knives. Not that I haven't had a couple, just never really carried or used them and traded them off for something somewhere.

Fast forward to this year and all of a sudden Spyderco is on my horizon. Started with the PPT, and I thought it would be my one and only, but was I wrong. That one turned into 5 before I knew it, and I'm looking at a few more for next year! Quite a change..........

For 2011;

-PPT
-Vallotton Sub Hilt
-Titanium Military
-Gayle Bradley
-92mm Citadel

I found all the above knives to be very ergonomic with excellent fit/finish. Consistently the sharpest knives out of the box of any brand that I have more than two knives. One of the best things, at least as I count it, is the heavier weight of these 5 knives, as they are some of the heaviest knives in Spyderco's lineup. They all feel SOLID!

I have a custom Pat Crawford Kasper folder coming as a Christmas present from me to me  (I been VERY good this year) and that will be my last knife for 2011.....................unless my son, volunteer fireman/EMT takes a real liking to my 92mm Citadel, then I'll be purchasing another one of these. :)

After being happy with, and carrying a SE Ladybug since April 2010, I found myself one day in a park trying to cut an apple with a tiny serrated knife and making a real mess of it. So my year started on August 31, 2011 when I ordered a Delica4 Gray FFG. That was the beginning of the end and I've spent the last 3.5 months obsessing over finding the perfect one to carry and cut food and tree limbs. However, I have tried to keep the stockpile down as I go along. Having no dealers in the area to try any of them out, I have to do a lot of buying & selling to sample. All of these were bought in the last 3.5 months:

Came & went:
  • Delica4 Gray FFG [Returned it, too short]
  • Para 2 [Sold it, too much handle & fat]
  • Sage 1 [Sold it, too short & fat]
  • Chaparral [Sold it, too short]
  • Gayle Bradley [Too heavy, Occluded lock- Ow! My thumb! Going to return it]
Might go:
  • Stretch SS/Kraton [Nice, thin, but combo edge, might sell it]
Keepers:
  • Caly 3.5 [Just right for a plain edge!]
  • Manix 2 Translucent Blue FRCP [Light, wire clip, great lock. Uhh... keep this or the Caly?]
  • Pacific Salt SE [Just right for a serrated edge!]
  • Dragonfly 2 SE [Good toss-in-the-bag knife that's bigger than the ladybug]
Waiting for in 2012:
  • M390 CF Military [I can't explain why I ordered it, other than it looks like it's going to be a SICK knife]

I didn't think it was a busy year, but after tallying up my acquisitions there were more than I thought.

Endura FRN
Endura G10

It's not an addiction. It's an INVESTMENT! (Or at least that's what I tell my wife)
The important thing was that I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time. You couldn't get white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...
