Dodo scales

#1

Post by Peruna »

Okay, so the beloved Dodo is back. YAY!!! It is orange. BOO!!! I am buying one anyway. Can anyone, politely and within the bounds of the rules of the forum point me in the right direction of correcting the color of the scales of the Dodo...either to a blue or a carbon fiber?

Thanks!

You can RIT dye it too. Black would probably be the easiest one to pull off properly.

Yeah, there are two Dodo sprints, one Orange and one Carbon Fiber. Just get the right one.

I hope they do the second run in a different steel.. The most common failure I've seen in secondary market Dodos is the tip breaking. Which steel would be best to avoid this? Something with high toughness like CPM3V? How about a 1095 or a Superblue Dodo? :D

Yep, Eric himself confirmed. No details yet on what style of CF they will be using.
Eric Glesser wrote:The orange is still a few months out. We’re planning plain edge on both Sprints. The second run will be Carbon Fiber but most likely won’t come until late 2012 and will be the same number of pieces. We did update our engineering for better quality and consistency. Some changes included a blind pin to the backspacer for strength and a machined spine as opposed to bead blasted.

Something like a lightning strike CF Dodo in 20CP would be awesome. And very expensive. But awesome nonetheless.

Is RIT toxic, meaning to you need to take any special precautions handling it?

Don't swallow it? :D Seriously, I think the only practical risk is to avoid burning yourself and to avoid spilling it on ANYTHING.
