While I like the looks of a number of the new ones, most are way out of my price range unfortunately. The new blades seem to keep sliding higher and higher up the cost scale and I don't have the money for them short of winning the lottery. The only one I will be pre-ordering and getting this year will be the Sprint Dodo it looks like.

Lots of new and fine blades in 2012 catalog and while i was expecting an increase in price the price of the Puukko fixed blade blew me away...you can get a 4 inch blade S30 V Manix XL but you have to pay double for 3.3 blade S30 V Puukko made in Taiwan....

I know that this is not all to the story of pricing but seems odd to me...Any ideas?

P.S. I am not trying to bash Spyderco as many of you here know this... :)

Only thing I want in 2012 is the Tuff. Also The XL Manix, but probably a Sprint version of it, so that might not happen until 2013.

Yojimbo 2 is on my list, but I don't feel any urgency to get it, so not sure when that's going to me. The Sage 4 also piques my interest, but I'd probably rather just throw that $100+ towards a bolstered custom of some sort.

Most of the ones I want are in the $200 range so I will have to exercise some self control when making my purchases & budget myself accordingly. I'm somewhat interested in the Dodo but I didn't expect it to almost double in price from what it used to be.

Well, just put in my pre-order for the Orange Dodo. I already have a pre-order in for the M390 Para2 as well as a fluted Ti Millie on backorder. The only other knife that I must absolutely have is the Tuff.

On my maybe list, the Burgundy Meerkat sprint and, depending on price, the CF Dodo.

Oh, my. That Gayle Bradley Air is just ridiculously sweet. God help me, I may end up buying a liner lock.

I was thinking the same!
I was about to order the Centofante 4 and saw the GB Air and like both of them. Lock back vs liner but the blades look very similar.

Unfortunately, most of the new models don't impress me much. I do like the lightweight manbug though, considering the price is similar to the standard ladybug.

Well I was waiting to find out a price on the South Fork before I added it to the list and with the Techno being close to $200 and now the SF being $250 its going to be rough. I know the materials are both there on the two of them along with the designers but common. Oh well I guess I will just chose to go broke.

I agree with you on the Techno I loved loved loved the proto but I feel they lost a lot with the production model. The stone washed blade bead blasted handle the clip and back spacer are what made it. The price sucks but with all that said I will still be buying one.
