As for the person who took advantage of that individual's generosity, if it's the person I think it was, what makes it extra sad is that his claims of military service were most likely false.

Gladly I can share another story of kindness in this thread:

Forum member Zatx gifted a brand new PM2 to me (actually he purchased it for me directly from Spyderco) and even insisted on covering the shipping to Europe, where I live. (I´ve attached some REALLY crappy pics of it from when it literally just arrived together with some if my most carried knives)

Honestly, that is one of the kindest and most unexpected things that ever happened to me, and the joy about someone beeing so nice is even much bigger for me than owning a PM 2 alone would have been anyway

It really is another example for how many great people obviously are to be found on this forum (and totally contraditcs what some "non-knife-people" in my home country seem to think about knife-lovers: That would be, that those are more aggressive, socially isolated, strange kind of persons)

Zatx´s gift is even more special, as he really does not know me and did even less so when he decided to donate the knife to me. We had just exchanged a few posts on this forum, discussing the PM2 vs the Kapara concerning box cutting. I told him, that I never owned a PM2, sure would like to try one someday but did not have the money at the moment.
To my pleasant surprise Zatx immidiately offered to send me his own first PM2, so I could try it as long as I wanted and than send it back eventually. He wouldn´t even have let me pay for the shipping.
A few days later he pm-ed I could KEEP the knife, and insisted on that.
Another few days later he wrote, he would not be satisfied with his old PM2, wanted to have me the best possible experience with this model and would send a new one to me. Of course I told him, that this was way too much and I really would not know how I´d deserve such a gift, but he insisted on doing so.
Only thing he did ask of me was to pass that act of kindness along someday if I had the opportunity (which I try to do anyway and did from time to time (so gifting knives) but never to a total stranger I just "met" on the internet).

So now I have my first PM2 in hand and really love the knife. Much more than I expected (but I´ll do another post about my first impressions anyway).

Thank you, Zatx, you really not only made my day but many days (don´t know if that´s proper English, but you get what I mean).

And: Sure I´ll do how Zatx asked me to and try to pass along the kind act when the opportunity will arise. So I guess here again hopefully it will be as it is often when someone decides to be kind and not selfish: Kind of a positive "snowball-effect". :)

Hey there, Warstein, my apologies for just seeing this post, I've been recovering from a minor surgery for the last week or so. I'm glad that you are enjoying your PM2; I was just wondering about you this morning as a matter of fact. I can't wait to read a write-up about your impressions of the beloved Paramilitary.
