There's only one thing I really dislike about the Yojimbo 2....

Mine isn't here yet! :(

This is / was my first Spyderco knife (longtime with Emerson's before that Benchmades). Please, don't bash on me but this might not be the knife for me.
No offense at all to Michael Janich or anyone else, but I still haven't warmed up to my Yojimbo 2 yet. I debated sending it back to Blade HQ to trade on something else. I thought of sending it back for a move to Native 5 or a Para 2. I still haven't even carried it yet. However it may still yet grow on me. if not I've made a $110 mistake.
I am glad to find out that I can be swaped out with a plain Endura or Delica clip (I'd prefer a black clip).
My big grip is with the sheer size of the knife. Yes, I know it's a purpose built fighting knife, but I just find that it sits too wide in the pocket (from the back strap of the grip to the unshapened top of the blade). It's just kind of big for pocket carry in a normal fitting set of blue jeans. I was expecting Spyderco quality and this design but in a size package like the Kershaw Needs Work.
Also if this is to be a purpose built combat knife why isn't their any word on if a trainer is going to be made? For the money I paid for the Yo2 I could have got an Emerson CQC-7 or it's training knife.

The knife is great fit and finish wise, just a little larger than I thought it would be.

As others have said the Yo 2 may not be for everyone, or for that matter any knife design. You could try a Native 5 it is a smaller knife and may suit you better. I carry mine quite often, but normally vary a C95 or Chinook II .

Got my Yojimbo 2 this week. Absolutely perfect. My Yo2 is numbered "102". I have seen pictures of other Yojimbo 2's without numbering. What is the number range that was etched on the Yo2??? What is the difference between the numbered and un-numbered blades???

Probably a collector's club piece, that found it's way to the market.

I received my Spyderco Yojimbo2 today. What a cool knife it is! I missed out on the opportunity to own the original Spyderco Yojimbo when it was available, so I'm very pleased to have acquired the next version.

Now, I'm not really into tactical or self-defense knives; however, like the Spyderco P'Kal, I find that the Yojimbo2's design also offers utilitarian options. To me, this is great because I have a knife that can serve two purposes and serve them well. In fact, I feel the Yojimbo2's straight edge will lend itself even better to utilitarian use as compared to the P'Kal.

I did do something with my Yojimbo2 that I've not done with any of my other :spyder: s... I changed the position of the pocket clip. I typically leave the pocket clip in the position that it orginally came on the knife because I figure Sal or the designer (Michael Janich in this case) had a reason for doing this; however, this time I had to change to pocket clip for tip-down carry... it was the only way, at least for me, that allowed me to effectively retrieve the knife from my RFP. I was also concerned about the nice, fine tip getting damaged by the keys hanging off my belt if I left the knife configured for tip-up carry.

Outstanding knife, Sal! Outstanding and most effective design, Michael!

Thank you for the great pictures and comparisons Mako-
And thanks to Michael Janich for the insight on his excellent design and for remembering us lanyard/fob users in his thoughts & comments. This Yo2 looks like a winner and the pricing seems very fair as well.

That's it. the Yojimbo 2 shall be mine. I've been looking for another S30V equipped bas-*** to add to my collection. I love my Para Military 2 more than ANYTHING. I'm curious to see if the Yojimbo 2 will provide some fierce competition (?)

In one of the previous threads about Yo2 I replied that I'm a bit skeptical about this knife. Well, I got it yesterday and I'm not any more. Wicked blade, amazing feel, solid blade, and for sure can pass as an EDC. When I choose a knife for an EDC, I want it to be able to handle hard work, to have good looks and ergonomics and (God forbid) to work as a SD. At first, I thought it is purely for SD, so it was bought for my collection, but after I put it in my hand, I realized that I was wrong. It has everything I need from an EDC, so shelf is not an option for this blade. Mike J, and Spyderco - Thanks again. Another great knife.
P.S. Not that I'm surprised.

An excellent knife, feels very solid, thick blade, the tip doesn't seem as fragile as on the original Yo. Great ergos. It looks like it would easily scare NKPs. :)
Perfect fit and finish.

Thank you, M.Janich and Spyderco, another homerun.

Fantastic pic's bold and crisp! Once the compression lock is broken in,its just about as easy to close one handed as my Paras. I do believe I'll purchase a back up in the New Year.

Has anyone heard of any problems with the lock on the new Yo 2? I received mine about three days ago and the lock was fine out of the box. After about 20 openings, the lock developed a grittyness that gives me chills every time I disengage it. Then the lock started getting stuck under the stop pin and not swinging over to the locked position. I can push it down to un-wedge it and it will lock up then but clearly something isn't right. I'm already planning on sending it in, I just wanted to know if anyone else has heard of any issues thus far.

BTW, besides my lock problem, this thing is so amazing. I'm big on ergoes and Wharny's and this thing is a grand slam in both aspects.

Serious props to MJ for an amazingly functional and equally nasty knife.
