which endura?

#1

Post by Impyboy »

Hi fellow Spydies,

I'm planning on getting another two Spidey knives in the next week....one will be a rescue, and the other will be my third endura.

question: which Endura should i get. the two i have already have the AUS8 blade, so i wont be getting that one. That only leaves me with either VG-10 or ATS-55. which one should i get?

thanks!

VG-10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A WICKED razor sharp edge can be obtained with this steel. I remember reading a review of VG-10 where it sliced a human hair lengthwise!!!!

Hear, hear and amen on the VG-10! ATS-55 is a great steel, but VG-10 is possibly the finest steel made, and definitely the sharpest. Splitting a hair lengthwise is a simple task!

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but do you have any Delica's yet? I too love the Endura and own 4 myself, but the Delica never gets left at home and 1 reason is in FRN and VG-10 it weighs next to nothing IWB carry i cant tell its there till i need it. In any case hope you enjoy your knew spydies.......Ron

VG10 all the way! But indeed you should also consider the excellent Delica. And those, you can get in Blue as well!

Another vote for VG-10. I have an ATS-55 frn model and love it. But the VG-10 models have the Boye dent in the lock lever which - while I kind of doubt adds that much for safety - is a cool addition nonetheless. Man, you can't beat the Endura in price-to-toughness ratio! Well, the Delica comes close, right? Just a matter of preference on overall size. I always like carrying a large folder. When I was a kid, it was usually a Schrade LB7. I got **** tired off all that weight clunking around in my pocket though, and I don't like wearing a belt pouch. With the frn Spydies, I can carry a large, superior folder and never know it's there until I need it.

Hi Fellow Spydies!

I'm happy to tell you that I am now a proud father of another two spyderco knives! The twins still have their differences. The first one to pop out was the VG-10 Endura. It's a 50/50, and looks just like his two elder brothers, only stronger! I'd like to also welcome to the family their baby sister the Rescue! She's a fine looking one too!

To answer your question about the Delica, that was in fact the very first Spyderco i bought. But I returned it and exchanged it for an Endura because I thought the longer blade was more practical.

I am one proud owner of an ATS-55 Delica Lightweight and it performs great. But I heard that VG-10 is better.
to mr.sharp4u: with all do respect, I too am a fan of tanto blades, but IMO the Endura (and Delica) have one of the most beautiful shaped blades in this corner of the galaxy. But if you really like tantos, check this two ones below. (Spyderedge is optional )
