Wegner Mouse

Post by KennyBoy »

What are your opinions on this little hunter? I have a Navigator and a Meerkat but I want the Wegner Mouse too....

And any idea where I'd be able to get one?

Kennyboy,
Welcome to the Spydie forum!!
The Mouse is a robust little knife. Maybe like a Navigator, but pumped up with muscles. Great "little" knife. You'll like it.
Finding one shouldn't be too hard. Mr. Wegner carrys them, but I don't know his email. The Knifecenter should have them. I would also email "glasshartt" here on the forums. That would probably be your best bet.

Actually, you can't get them from Spyderco. Spyderco manufactures them exclusively for Tim Wegner. He distributes them. He also sells them from his own website.

Try www.blade-tech.com.

The Mouse blade is quite stout. A bit shorter than the Navigator and IIRC, the blade thickness is greater.

What I like best about the Mouse is its curved grip, as with all of the Wegner designs.

I recently bought a Mouse from Blade-Tech. I live in Jersey, Channel Islands and the knife arrived very quickly. It cost me £84.19 including postage and packing. Its a great little knife and is my EDC when off-duty. Small enough to be an EDC - my larger knives don't see much action. The VG-10 steel is fantastic and holds a razor-sharp edge very well. Get one....you wont regret it.

AH HA! So you want my opinion on the Mouse, eh? Well, you sure have come to the right place! (Where the heck is Kahz?! She is the "Queen of the Mouse" and could do a better job at this than I can)

Bro, I bought the Mouse a few months back when they were on sale from BladeTech.com for $79 bucks. (Or was it $89? ) Anyway, I think its the best "little-big-knife" a person can want. (Some folks that have large hands don't care for the ergonomics of the Mouse, but it depends on your hand size.)
My advice is to GO FOR IT! You'll never regret it, I promise. I thought that $90 bucks for a knife that small was insane....then I bought one. The rest, as they say, is history.

Good luck to ye, and Welcome Aboard!

Welcome Ken,

I just received my Mouse last week and it's absolutely wonderful. Think you'll like it. You might try www.agrussell.com where I got mine. Good Internet shopping site. About $90.00 US. Very good service. I think I saw that BladeTech was the same price and the best price I could find. Good luck.

Cheers,

Jaxon

Thanks for all your posts...nice welcome!

Well seems like the Mouse is really really popular!! I did have a Wegner Jr which I have since sold on and I liked the ergonomics of that knife very much. My only criticism was the position of the clip...not near enough the tip of the knife for my liking...something I love about my Navigator, Calypso Jr and Meerkat!

Do many of you use the Mouse for hunting...skinning, gutting and the like? Just wonder how useful it would be. I have the Spyderco Moran fixed blade which has worked brilliantly with preparing pheasants. With such a small blade on the Mouse, would it be sufficient to carry that on a hunting trip (rabbits, pigeons only) or would I need a larger blade as well?

As EDC, it would be ideal...but I have so many great small knives already! DOH!!

I shall shop around and see what deal I can get. Discount knives is great but they dont ship overseas!!

You might want to look at Tim Wegner's site. He comments on the Mouse in relation to the questions you ask.

Howdy Kenny! Welcome to Land!

The Mouse is one of the best little cutters around, hands down. The cutting power of the 1 7/8" blade is something that has to be seen to be truly understood!

As a B & T knife, it is a bit small. No doubt it would work wonders on your rabbits and pigeons, but I always like a bigger knife as backup. If you decided to carry it alone, you would not be under-knifed, but I like to be extra prepared.

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.
