The Deacon wrote:No shipping notice here either, I suspect none went out today. However, I did receive an order confirmation within minutes of placing my order. Did you get an one of those?
I also got my order confirmation right away, but no shipping notice. There's always tomorrow...

I wonder if there are any left now, considering how many people were on the USN page waiting for the code at noon today. At least as of right now there are not any listed on ebay at inflated prices, yet.

Spyderco ships UPS
We would rather be the knife in your pocket, because is "works" better, than the knife in your showcase, because it "looks" better.

Why the molded clip? To avoid rusting?

I tried to join USN on several occasions, but I don't have an email address from my ISP. I use a gmail account and my school email account. I tried to email the admin from the link in the registration page to discuss this, but the MAILTO link is screwy and doesn't actually provide me with an email address, it just opens my mail client and puts some jibberish in the TO: line.

Anyone know the admin's email address? I may not buy one of these knives, but I still want to join USN

It was discontinued with the molded clip. Saw someone say in order to make a new ($50k) mold it'd add like $86 to the price or something, idk how accurate that is, but yeh.

Makes sense. I wasn't around for the first catcherman so I wasn't aware. I thought they moved away from the molded clip due to them constantly breaking, but it suppose that if it makes sense for any knife it would be one meant for the ocean.

That "someone" was me. Precision molds a few years back were running around $30k (prices have gone up since then) and I've seen as high as $50k recently. Since the Catcherman is a relic from 1992 (with possible mold changes in clip thickness/width early on), that was before the integrated clips were discontinued. Since Spyderco's going to produce only 600 pieces of this sprint (and it's not coming back as a regular production knife it seems), then the cost of a new mold without the clip can't be justified over such a small run -it would add $83 in cost to each unit- so they just used the old mold (with clip).

That's fine! I have no problem with you sharing what I posted. I just fessed up in case the info wasn't right so they'd know who to set straight. Truth be told, I got my mold pricing info from older posts from The Deacon and Yablanowitz... :o

There are 226 left...was this the whole run of 600, or was this broken into batches of 300 like the USN endura?
