Question Regarding Expected Lum Tanto Sprint

#1

Post by cosmo7809 »

Hey all, I am loving the looks of the Lum Tanto Sprint due out from spyderco. Im not a huge fan of tantos but something about the looks on this one that makes me crave for one.
Anyway, from the pictures here it looks like its green g10 http://spydercollector.wordpress.com/20 ... to-sprint/

A certain knife shop that has the Lum Tanto Sprint on preorder lists it as "SPYDERCO C46GPGY LUM TANTO G10 PLAIN EDGE GRAY PRE ORDER"

Was the G10 color changed to gray?

Thanks.

It does look like a cross between the two. Hm...

When I sit there and really look I do see gray now.

From the blurb above the pictures:
The G10 has a rougher pattern than the usual foliage green G10 handles
I don't think it'd be compared to other foliage green G10 if that prototype wasn't foliage green.

It looks gray to me, although I once owned a bike for 2 years thinking it was gray until someone asked me what I did with my green bike.

definitely looks grey to me, though not quite the same grey as the para 2 (this one looks a little darker).

I sure hope it isn't the same gray as the latest Para2 sprint. I got one to be a worker, and the light grey sure gets dirty wicked fast. Not too big of a deal since it's a 'worker' but aesthetically it's a bit disconcerting. The foliage green would be my hope because I'm really looking forward to this one.

It's gray. I just shot this photo of it yesterday...

As some of you may know, I'm not really a tanto fan. But I am a big fan of this knife.

I have the Spyderco Bob Lum fixed blade tanto and I can't wait to add the folding tanto knife to the stable.

Man that sprint is going to be an insanely sweet knife. One of my faves.

I am VERY much looking forward to this Sprint Run. It will be my first Lum Tanto, and likely not my last.

I am not a tanto fan and I do not like gray G10, but I certainly love this knife.

Mike, is that because the Lum is just a cool knife, or is that because the Lum Tanto performs better in ballistic cutting tests than other tantos you've tested?

Thanks,

The Lum is one of my favorite Spyderco liner locks because it requires more conscious effort to close. As a tanto, it "walks the line" between the traditional Japanese version and the Americanized version better than anything else I've seen. If you want a strong knife that still offers great edge geometry and penetration, it's an excellent "best of all worlds."

For the record, I still have one of my original Spyderco Lum folders, which served as my EDC for about a year a while back. I've got a fair amount of experience with this design and am very glad to see it available again.

Stay safe,

Mike
