knife_thrower,
Welcome to the Spyderco Forum.
As already mentioned, switch blades may be illegal to carry. You're tempting fate by carrying the blade (cool as it may be).
My suggestion is put the item into a display case to better show it off.
My preferences in knives tend to run to the large size folder. My every day carry (EDC) is generally a Military (other knives do make it into the rotation). By the way, my Military is every bit as fast, to deploy, as your switch blade.
One way or the other, you pay for your tools!

Hey knife_thrower & Kurdilla :
That's "illegal"; although I look at the Constitutionality of such legislation <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> what
my charge against the switchblade has been is it's unreliability. Once the spring goes,
you have a "gravity" knife at best <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Just for collectors, I say. BTW knife_thrower what
"make" is it? My advice to you is to keep it
"in the family" as an heirloom, NOT for EDC.
Get yourself a VG-10 "Delica" or something.

Howdy Knife_Thrower! Welcome to <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>Land! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
I'd keep the switch at home. While they're definitely fun to play with, the legality of switchblades is not something to challenge.
Grab a <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>, or if a nearly automatic knife is required, a Kershaw Boa. Please note- the Boa is fast, but a good <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> is equally so, without the reliability issues.
Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

Man, it just goes to show what age can do to a fellow....
I read "SWITCH" and "GREEN" and immediately invisioned an old piece of hickory or something-let a switch as in tool of discipline!
Maybe it's the paint fumes I've been smelling all day....oh well...I'll just wander off now....thanks....
Mongrel AKA-DOH!

Mongrel,
I find myself in that predicament often! Just put on another pot of Ethiopean Harrar Mokka or Lafittes Special Roast and you'll be back in focus, focus, in no time. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
K_T,
Welcome, sorry about your grandfather, hang on to that switch and stay within for the law!
Stay safe! Stay sharp! <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
