Sal v.s. Eric

#1

Post by TheMelonPopper »

This may be random, but I just wanna know what the spyderco fans, and veterans feel about the two wonderful knife makers. These are my questions:

First, what is your favorite knife made by Sal?

Second, what is your favorite knife made by Eric?

Finally, Who is your favorite, Sal or Eric?

Thanks! And my answers are:
1. Para 2
2. Spin
3. Eric (love the ergos and curves!)
Two is one, one is none.

I think both are great people, easy to talk to, and very talented. I also think Eric shares a lot of Sal's business philosophy. When it comes to favorite designs, I'm mainly a fan of Sal's. His Stretch is my absolute favorite design. As for Eric's, I rate the original Manix as the best of them although the BiFold gets a lot of points for originality.

Both good, just different.

Sal has many pieces I like.

The same is true for Eric, The Bi-Fold is perhaps my most interesting knife. Really, to appreciate this design, a person must handle one.
Thanks,

Both, Sal and Eric brought me a joy with quite a few their designs.
The favorite design by Sal is Caly3.5/ Caly3, by Eric is Dodo.

My top choices Natives5, Calys, C83 Persian

For Sal it is the Stretch.
For Eric it is the Spin.

my favorite of the two would be the one that creates a Sage 4 with axis lock, m390 steel, sculpted orange g10/carbon fiber scales that have dotted glow inserts and anodized Ti bolsters and barrel spacers. :)

if the two wonderful men collaborate on that project then I'll just have to love them both equally.

edit: almost left out the spydie hole. but, I thought that was a given.

Well, I think it's a tie since I absolutely think the Military and the Original Manix are the "most awesomest" knives that spyderco makes or has made.

I think the OP's question is reasonable and fair: I Don't view it as one pitted against the other thingy....Would be just as fair to add the category of your favorite Collab....
First off I'm a fan of Sal's designs....My absolute Favorite is the knife Sal made for himself: The Big Calypso.
Eric is quite the designer himself...The very best of his IMHO is the Original Manix (Just superb)

Ah, I'd seen those logos before but never made the connection, thanks. I know my Assist has Sal's logo on the handle.

This reminds me of the show American Chopper. It's a show about a father / son business (choppers). I remember they one time had a father / son bike build- off, as they are both very skilled in their craft of building bikes. Don't recall who won but it was all done in fun.
