1. the notch makes me think kiwi, otherwise if I saw it i'd assume its a new model
2.Bolsters add some class to it.
3. since its a classy-esque knife, I would say hollow

The Kiwi knife has a clever resemblance to the Kiwi bird. The notch is integral to that resemblance.

I have to agree, I do not like the new smooth rendition, kind of makes it look a boring any old knife and is certainly not as appealing to me, but I am not the kiwi expert :o

I missed out on the locking kiwis and probably wouldn't buy this rendition if it came with that... modified blade shape. FFG is great but not worth it to loose the notch imo.

And yes the kiwi bird still has the "notch" :)

Smooth spine Kiwi is pretty much a Kopa....so since we are looking at getting a new Kopa anyway, then keep the Kiwi a Kiwi and keep the notch.

We started out to make two models. One "notched" hollow ground with bolsters and jigged bone. The 2nd was "sloped" spine full flat, G-10 scales, no bolsters. When priced, the Jigged bone version was quite expensive and was shelved. The G-10 version is still in-the-works.

Let's see what happens with the G-10 version, which is still not cheap.

Huh...well I guess that means that I get to save a few more bucks for something else at least.

Sal, I'd be very happy with just a SS old school Kiwi...I just want one that locks.

Sal,
How close is the new Kiwi? And more importantly, will it have a pocket clip?
So many knives, so few pockets... :)

I was hoping for a clip as well, but I imagine it must be hard for Sal to pander to all of our individual wants. Thanks for the update Sal, I'm still looking forward to this one, but I think I would find it much more useful with a clip.
