Larger Kiwi

As a result of requests from afi's, we have a design for a larger Kiwi. Just under 3" in blade length. Mid-Lock-back like the original. Will be higher line like the original and made in Seki by the Kiwi maker. Have somed Q's.

1. Blade spine as a smooth warnie (a-la-Deacon) or notched like the original?
2. Bolsters or full scales?
3. Hollow or flat grind?

That is great! I love the Kiwi!

1. Notched for sure! A lot of what I love about the Kiwi is the blade shape. It is unique and makes it stand out amidst other knives.

2. I love the CF Kiwi, so inlay like that would be my preference.

3. Honestly not picky on the grind.

Guess I'm going against the grain, but,
Notched, bolstered and a hollow grind, please.

Will the ergo's remain as good as on the old one when just upscaling this design?
I'm sure you have been giving this a lot of thought.

Sal, my first choice would be a blade with a smoothly arced spine and full flat grind mated with a bolster and scales handle.

Keep the notch, IMO it wouldn't be a Kiwi if it didn't have a notch.

Bolster and polished Micarta

Hollow grind, but i could go either way with the grind.

I don't have an original Kiwi to compare here, so to be safe just give Deacon everything he wants!

Larger Kiwi, super. ;)

1. Smooth a la deacon.
2. Full scales, but if you must have bolsters, FRONT BOLSTERS only.(less weight)
3. Flat grind.

Why so much Wharnie love? There are already Spyderco wharnies...why change the design of the Kiwi blade, which is pretty unique and interesting....

I like the notch...it's part of the Kiwi character. I also love the bolsters...since this is more of a gents knife it adds to the niceness of it. Full flat grind would be my first pic.

Dang it! made me come out from behind my peep hole. ;)

I have always liked the kiwi, and I have long thought that Paul's interpretation of it to be most elegant. I think that is especially true when considering a larger implementation, as this is.

so....

Full Flat, curved spine, no hump
bolsters - or at least a front bolster

1. Keep the notch. It's not a Kiwi without the notch.
2. Bolsters. Always.
3. Hollow.

Sounds good Sal. I might be in the minority, but I would still like to see a clip on a Kiwi. Was hoping one might turn up for the slipit version. We can always dream. :)

It's already a Wharny, just a unique one with a hump.

Ok well that is true...just looks more interesting and unique with the hump. Charges the whole look/feel of the knife for the better I think.
