Hoosier,

I guess that you've never seen El Paso. We have the tail end of the Rockies splitting the city in half. Also Ruidoso and Cloudcroft, NM are really close if you want even higher peaks. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Linda,

And a hearty Happy AM to ya! As a former NM State Highway Patrol District 8 Search and Rescue Team member, it would always chafe when we were called West Texas - is this a new ideology? Manifest Texany?? <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Thanks for the assist. I also forgot about the Franklins down your way. Viva Balmoreah!

Stay safe! Stay sharp! <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Java,

I live in Orange County, So. Cal. It's supposed to be the mountain bike capital of the world. That's what some books refer to it as, (not that I believe everything I read in books) but I'm sure there are nicer places. Moab, Sedona, Colorado, just to name a few, I have a friend that lives near Kamloops B.C. and rides, like three months out of the year.

I have mostly XT stuff on my bike, no need for that XTR stuff. The XT crankset is actually a few grams lighter than XTR, but XTR has 7075 chainrings and stiffer arms. I realize you mentioned Race Face, don't know if you mean cranks or other stuff. The XTR cassette has Ti. gears on the biggest four, which I hear wear out very quickly. I've got Deore disc, which I will eventually replace with Hayes binders. Got a Thomson stem and post, WTB Laser V saddle and Easton Monkeylite riser bars.

I guess it's easy to put 400 on in a month when you don't do hills!!!!
I always ride at the places with the hardest hills, as I love to climb <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> !

I usually carry my "Q" Spydie with me, (only 35 grams) but the Ladybug is only 10 grams. I weigh 220, so I can't be to picky about weight.

If you want a good laugh... check out www.mtbr.com Go find reviews of products, then go to Nutrition, scroll down and find Kellogs Pop Tarts. Find my review (Hoosierdaddy) on I think it was May 7, then start laughing <img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Take it easy, gotta go and ride now!

Java,

No problem, most people forget that El Paso is part of Texas. We don't even have the same time zone as most of the rest of TX. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
