Post by jforbush »

I Cerakoted my black FRN Stretch to Ridgeline blue. Might do a yellow or purple one tomorrow.

EDIT...I just realized I spelled makeover wrong!!! Stupid fat fingers. :)

I thought baking it on would cause some damage to the frn. Guess ts not hot enough. There was that guy that put a ladybug in his wood burning furnace.

Cerakote is a ceramic based firearms coating. I use it on knives primarily but am branching out to other gear.

Some big names in the knife industry use it as their primary coating on there production stuff.

So how easy is it to chip that stuff? If you coated a pocket clip how well would it stand up vs. the factory coating?

Cerakote is on par with DLC which is what Sypderco uses.....there are advantages and disadvantages to both.

can you air spray this stuff on? i was thinking you could make some cool camo if it was thin enough to apply it with one of those air brushes that modelists use.

Can't use a airbrush with Cerakote. It requires a HVLP mini gun. Duracoat on the other hand I use a airbrush. To achieve more complex patterns and designs I use stencils and other painters tricks with both products.
