Which Spydie for girlfriend?

#1

Post by JediKnight86 »

The only one she has is a purple Ladybug that I got for her and she loves it, but for some reason the blade is getting loose. I think it's time for her to upgrade. A Delica 4 FFG in purple seems like the obvious choice, but I want her to learn how to operate a liner lock too. So the Persistence seems like another good choice, maybe a Sage... hmm?

I know she loves the purple, and she likes green too. But I'm trying to see if she'll like function over color.

I got my girlfriend a blue ffg delica. She loves it, although she did cut herself with it within the first few days while using it at work to open a box.

What did she use the knife for .. Could help you decide on a choice based on size for her needs :)

I have that one already she doesn't seem to care much for it.

I think you are right on with getting her a purple Delica 4 FFG; I have one in grey and absolutely love it; great knife and am sure she would love it.

A sage probably would be a little expensive IMO for an upgrade from a ladybug.

I am sure whatever you decide she will love so go with what you think she will like.

Never underestimate the likes of the opposite sex...a student of mine had a wife who had an aversion to all knives...he brought home for her a Caly Jr. ZDP in Burgundy..she turned her nose up...he tried a Blue Delica...yep she turned her nose up.....he tried a CF Civilian...nice looking but too scary for her....he laid out all his knives on the floor out of frustration and told her "Just pick One, I want you to carry a knife!"
She took his Rock Salt (LoL) and wears it to work everyday.....So you never know...My better half just helped herself to one of my Ronins...Doc :D

Hold out for the blue Sage 3 with the bolt action lock, OR...if she likes them, any of the Manix2's or if basic black is good for her (remember it goes with everything!) then the Para2 s30v.

Let her pick, she'll be happier that way.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)

I'm thinking the new DragonFly 2 - no colors except black (not counting the ZDP version coming out in green). Great, non-threatening knife that will serve her well.

As a side note, the Balance is just cute as a button and might catch her fancy. It doesn't even look like a knife to a lot of people. It's a little more spendy, though...

My wife uses a Pink D4 for yard work, a Spin (small linerlock) or a Chicago (small linerlock but not that readily avialable) for other uses. She actually prefers the back lock to the linerlock in use, but to each his (her) own.

She is also fond of my kopas.
