D2 Para! It was my second Spydie and is the yardstick I compare all my other Spydies to.

My forest green G-10 J.D. Smith is the smoothest opening lockback I've ever owned. (and I've been buying knives since the mid-60's) Not surprising when you look at the fit and finish of the knife - even the inside of the back spine is polished on this model. Man, I would LOVE to see a smaller (2/34-3") version of the J.D. Smith in a sprint run.

:spyder: My smoothest are my yojimbos and dodos, of all my spydies (round 60 before I started giving them away) my ocelot is the roughest, hardest to open :( never gets carried because of it) :spyder:

For you all of short memories, the Howard Viele (C42), was the smoothest of all. Bar none. I have all of the knives mentioned, and they are smooth, but the Viele beats them all in fastness and smoothness. Like a pat of hot butter on ice. Really nice.

I have to say my D'Allara and Manix2 are my smoothest.

Sage II & CF Caly 3 get my vote.

I had a JD smith factory second from last year's sale that was up there as well.

Delica and Endura are great knives! They're the low priced crack samples that'll get you hooked on spyderco! Feed the need!

Another vote for the Gale Bradley. To me it almost feels like an assisted opener.

Gunting. Opens smooth and locks solid with a small rotation of the wrist. (Also nothing comparable when the kinetic ramp is employed.) Original Tim Zowada opened Parkay smooth and you can't tell that apart from the buttery standard...... ;)

Assuredly!!

I just got mine this weekend.

I can hold it parallel to the ground, blade-down, and retract the lock and the blade will swing through almost 180 degrees to lock. Without help it makes it to about 135 degrees; with the tiniest bit of flick it continues all the way to lock open. Same thing in reverse.

I'll throw in a vote for my original Caly Jrs. Very light and very smooth.

The CF Walker also gets an honorable mention.
