Should I send it in?

#1

Post by Max1975 »

I have a old military with a ATS 34 blade and a two screw mounted clip. It's developed side to side and up and down play over the years. My question is should I send it in to fix or by a new military?

I'd try to have it fixed and then retire it and buy a new one
...oh you know why!

This sounds like a perfect excuse for picking up a new Military to me...

Did you try tightening the pivot first?

Welcome to the Spydie forum!
I agree with "demtek9". Send it in, retire it and buy a new Military. :spyder:

Those old Millies had an eccentric pivot that might be able to remove at least the vertical play, and new washers might cure the horizontal play, so if you do send it in, there is at least a chance that it can be repaired. Worst case scenario, they'll send it back unrepaired with a recommendation that it be honorably retired.
I don't believe in safe queens, only in pre-need replacements.

Great outcome, remember to take it out and exercise it regularly. Those old Millies are even lighter than the new ones and should get used.
