Yes, it's real, was produced for Spyderco, and Sal considers it a Spyderco product. On the other hand, it was marketed as the RAMCO Laguiole, possibly because it did not employ an version of Spyderco's opener, and does not say Spyderco anywhere on it. Even the leather sheath carries a bee rather than a :spyder: . So there's some question, at least in my mind, whether to file it under Spyderco or classify it with Sal's other designs, like the Solo's, which did not employ any implementation of the Spyderco opener patent and were manufactured and marketed under other names. In the end, that's a question each collector has to answer for themselves.

One of the few Spyderco's without the Spyderhole. Nice piece, but to most it isn't a Spyderco. As Paul points out RAMCO is on the knife but no Spyderco anywhere.

I might agree that to "some" it isn't a Spyderco - I don't know if "most" feel that way.ozspyder wrote: Nice piece, but to most it isn't a Spyderco. As Paul points out RAMCO is on the knife but no Spyderco anywhere.
I know this has been discussed before, but it does seem that Sal feels it is a "Spyderco".
A quote from Sal:
[INDENT]Spyderco Laguiole
Spyderco produced a Laguiole "style" knife about 8 years ago. It was a front lock folder designed by Dennis LeMaire. We produced it in Seki. Steel was GIN-1. We designed our own "bee" for the traditional look. Quality was excellent. Came in Plain or serrated. Custom made leather sheath also had the "bee" embossed on the sheath.
It was/is IMO the best quality Laguiole ever to hit the market. We actually lost quite a bit of $ in the project.
Dealer support wasn't there and the model was dropped. One of the Spyderco crew just purchased one of the remaining pcs at the last Spyderco "Crew sale" last week.
They were, however, quite expensive. As I remember, Over $130 retail + sheath.
