Small Pocketknife?
Would anyone like to see Spyderco make a small pocketknife? I currently carry a stainless Dragonfly right now, but would like something a little smaller and less obtrusive. I'm in a business environment and large knives are frowned upon by security.
I was thinking of something similar to the all-stainless Jess Horn folder, but about 2 3/4" long, closed length. I know Spyderco has the Mouse and Toad, but those are pretty bulky and chunky. I'm thinking of something small enough to wear with a suit, but with slim and elegant lines. I also want a blade with a sharp tip.
Any comments?
Joe

jggonzalez, welcome to the Spydie forum. You might want to take a look at the Spydie Cricket, it's about 2 3/4" closed. It's small enough to clip to a shirt collar, use as a tie tack, or a money clip.
Anything smaller than that would have to be the Spydie Ladybug(2 1/2" closed).
Survive, Adapt, and Overcome...

I would suggest a Micarta Jester.

Thanks for the suggestion about the Jester. I have two Ladybugs, but don't really like the 50/50 serrations, and the Cricket blade is too menacing in appearance. (Remember, I live in the People's Republik of Kalifornia.)
I just saw the Jester after posting my message and I really like it. It would be nice with a metal clip, but I can live without that. Does anyone have one? I'd like to hear from someone who has handled it. It really looks like a handy piece for everyday carry. If I find a micarta-handled one at a reasonable price it will probably become my daily carry knife.
Thanks to all,
Joe

Yes, definitely! I am dreaming for long time at something like that. The Kershaw Chive, which really rocks, is close enough. It is small, slim, has the pocket clip!!!, can be dismanteled as it has screws, but I don't like the serrations (if you're into serrated blades) and besides, I just love the hump and the hole in the blade. I am currently working on a design based on this ideea, and hope I'll introduce it to you ASAP.
Of course, another slim knife is Benchmade Big Spender, but it's too big, and you can carry the knife only tip down.

I thought that AG Russel made a micarta Horn that was smaller than the norm...otherwise check out the Reeve Umfaan. Not a spyder but incredible nonetheless! And if all else fails, check out the Civilian or Harpy for a non-intimidating gent knife <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Hey jggonzalez :
I'm shooting for the "jester" in fuschia PE.
I'm not a fan of big knives, it was the same
way when I used to carry guns. Discretion is
the better part of valor. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Hi jjgonzalez, welcom to the forum.
My first suggestion would be the Cricket. I too work in a very security concious environment where knives are very much frowned apon, but nobody ever comments on my Cricket. The tip is needle sharp an is excelent for starting deeper cuts, and the large belly makes paring a breeze and lets it act like a much larger knife.
I know what you mean about the 50/50 Ladybug, neither one or the other, but if you give wwww.bladeart.com a call they can fix you up with a plain edged Ladybug. I got two, I like it so much I got two, just in case I loose one <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
BTW
If you get an error message when posting the chances are that it worked. Just keep hitting the Back button untill you get to the main forum page. Just one of the foibles of this forum <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
Walk softly, carry a big stick.

The <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>'s I use for EDC are the Cricket, Navigator, and Micarta Jester, all of which I prefer to the Dragonfly. While a small pocketknife, the Navigator sounds like it may be more knife than you are looking for so I'd agree with the Cricket & Jester suggestions.

Co-pilot is a good idea, and great money clip. So is the tufram cricket if you can get it. But, and I'm sorry to talk about another company here, but a good knife is a good knife, check out the Benchmade "Big Spender." Slim, light, adjustable and made as a money clip.
Also, if you could find and old Micarta mini-dyad, you'd have the perfect pocket knife, with a clip and everything. I took my clip off, but different strokes...
