I discovered internet forums in 1999. It started with a Honda forum when I had a recall on my Accord and needed more info about it. Since then I've joined other forums for different hobbies of mine.

I was on rec.knives in the day, going way back and then around 2000 or so I joined Bladeforums and then eventually found my way here.

I preferred the more relaxed way this forum was run to be honest.

I fondly remember the thin Spyderco catalogues with the steel chart. Must have been around 1998 onwards. They were a couple of inches tall but wide and thick. I used to love killing time when waiting for my train to and from University reading this and learning more about knives and Spyderco. It was my bible of quality.

I fondly remember sat at the train station one winters evening waiting for a much delayed train in the pouring rain. I was sat on a bench and the rain was moving sideways towards me and the wind was howling. It was freezing cold and yet I sat there relaxed and comfortable as I had decent gear on and a fully serrated Endura in my pocket.

Came in handy when a homeless person tried to mug me as well. I spyderdropped and he ran away. Yes, he had a knife. Not a Spyderco though.

In those days, carrying a locking knife like the Endura would have raised eyebrows but not like today.

Yes, from that day I knew without a shadow of a doubt, that the Spyderco way was my way.

Sorry, bit of a ramble there.

That's a funny coincidence.

I wanted to know what hawkbill Hannibal used in the movie, and that brought me here.

I was looking for a pocket/gent-sized knife made of quality materials, which I could open and close with one hand and clip to my pocket. One thing led to another.

Thing is, if you're into good gear, you have to appreciate Spyderco. They do not skimp on materials or design, which means they don't have to rely on the knives being "over-built."

I was really only in the market for one knife. I have already decided to let that slide. The question now is just how far. You people aren't helping, but that's okay.

My dad got a SMKW catalog and I looked through it. I almost instantly fell in love with the blade shape of the Delica and Endura but they were a little out of my price range. I got my first Spyderco, a Snap It, after my first year in college. I've owned many since then. I found Spyderco.com via a google search and found the forums while perusing the site for more information.
I forgot to add one thing. One of my first posts was a suggestion for something I wanted to see in the future. I was very impressed when Sal replied to my thread personally. I was hooked on Spyderco from that time onward.

Googling Spyderco Forum or Knife Forum led me here. Great bunch here, no flaming, decent conversation, good place to relax.

Like many folks, I came here to get a couple questions answered about an issue I was having with one of my knives. During the process of getting my answer, I realized that there was a lot of knowledge here and it was a fun place to browse and relax. Plus, Ive also realized its a classy forum run by a standup company.

I walked in to the shooting range I used to hang out at and my buddy pulls out a Civilian and says look what I just got. I've been in love ever since. I noticed the forum a few times but searching for information on the Original Spyderhawk brought me here.

Reading about how many people are here because of google reminded me of this.
