going retro..
Dudes ~
I've enjoyed using and collecting <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>s over the years.. I'm dedicating more time in search of retired Spydies because I felt that they are really classics to own! Just started on the C-01s and I guess I'll be progressing to some rare and out of production knives! Do you share the same interest as I do?

I've been pretty mixed in my purchases - some new models and some older discontinued models. My last 6 purchases have been a (older models) Ti Lum Folding Tanto, black Micarta Jess horn, Blue BF G-10 Native and (new models) FRN Matriarch, Blue Lum Chinese and the Forum Vesuvius.
I think I'll continue to buy some of the new models as they come out but mix in some of the older models I come upon. I guess it's an advantage of only discovering Spyderco knives a few years ago - LOTS of older models that are new to me!

G'day Sam,
Most of the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>'s I've kept are discontinued or noteworthy for some other reason. I've got a couple of different original Centofantes, a couple of Calypso Jrs, an early Viele, a G10 Harpy, an early PE Worker, a CF Dragonfly, an aluminium Cricket and all the forum knives. The only current production knives I own are the Navigator that I won here and my Lum Chinese Folders and they're pretty special anyway <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>. I agree with Nut, I would like to pick up an early aluminium C15 sometime (after I pay for the kid's education <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>).

samo, you want a good starting place?
Cutting Edge Cutlery Co(Saskatoon, Sask, Canada)
1-306-374-3433
www.swords.ca
swords.ca@shaw.ca <--Goes to the owner, Darren
The prices there are reasonable(204 is $68, Canadian). They make up for the prices by having many hard to find and discontinued models of many companies.
Just ask Raden about his CF attack.
When you email or contact them, mention my name. Every time I get rid of another old one, I get to help put in my opinion for new models to get in there.

<img src=http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/372fcedb ... 8A88UxWudf> We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare... <img src=http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/372fcedb ... 8A88UxWudf>

G'Day Clay! I admire your loyalty and appreciate your collection of the olde Spydies! Yeah, the Centofantes are definitely worth a go! They are the classy ones! Just like a vintage sports car! <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> After all these years, I've learned to appreciate the early production Spydies. They are indeed a work of art! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
Hey thanks for the lead VW! Will check out the site to get a better picture! Oooooh! The C-15 and C-19!! They are indeed classics! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

The site recently moved servers, as our provider(most of the city's provider in fact) did so.
The site is still worked on, and about 1/2 up. Last I checked(2 weeks ago) the Spydie page wasn't up, but you can still email for prices.

Dear Samo & ALL :
I like browsing the Net ; net businesses like
www.bestknives.com, www.dirtcheapknives.com,
www.cheaperthandirt.com, etc. have all the
early models. I even saw the C 5G "standard"
( my next to next target ) I am seeking the
C 01 "worker" ( my first <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> seen & loved, but
from a distance, as my army pay couldn't secure one <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> )and many others. Forumites,
check out these websites if you haven't already, some early models at affordable prices. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
"...and let him that has no sword sell his robe and buy one..." Luke 22:36 <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
"...and let him that has no <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> sell his coat and buy one..." ATE
