Blue Centofante Question?

#1

Post by Hoosierdaddy »

I had a quick question I hope someone can answer. Did the Blue Centofante come with a Blue Krayton (soft) inlay in the scales? One of the Gun stores I frequent has one for 100.00 but it looks kind of hoakie (not original). The reason I ask is next to it is a Worker that is all black and it looks like someone just dipped the whole knife in black nitride. It doesn't look "factory" if you know what I mean.

Pretty sure it did, and if it is mint and says Spyderco Centofante or something like that on it, for 100 bucks, it's a steal!!! <img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

G'day 'Daddy,

The blue Centofante's does indeed have a blue insert but it's made from Santoprene rather than Kraton. There aren't too many of these around so I'd snap it up. I got one from Milarm a couple of months ago and it's one of my favourite EDC's (along with my grey Centofante).

KK and Clay,
Thanks for the responses, I guess I'll be heading back there to get that soon. Never seeing one in person until then, I didn't want to get "taken".

Good find, Hoosierdaddy.<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I had a G50 Centofante once, and I loved it! ( Had to return it due to a faulty lock. ) I have another one on order, I'm just waiting for it to come in.

BTW, does this place have any more of these available?

Thanks,

SpyderNut,

Sorry, only one availible. Upon further inspection it looks like the jr. Centofante (C-25) It's P/E w/ATS34 blade, I didn't know they made the jr. in blue. Anyone know? Clay?

Chinook,

I'm anxious to see pix, what happened?

Chinook,

That's it. Is that a C25 jr. or a C50 full size? Thanks for posting the pix.

Its definitely a C25. The C50 is a larger knife and was not designed in the aluminum handles, only the G10 which came later in the Centofante II.
The aluminum came in the blue, green and a gray aluminum with black Santoprene(sic) rubber insert.
I love the model as you can see. I got another blue one since that you can see in the second shot. No plainedge yet...... Where did you say that one is at????? <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Crap... image posting is down again......
Later..............maybe

Chinook,
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size=1 face=arial>quote:<hr height=1 noshade>green and a gray aluminum with black Santoprene(sic) rubber insert. <hr height=1 noshade></BLOCKQUOTE></font><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2>
I thought the "green" was the same grey aluminium but with a green insert. Am I mistaken? (Not the first time <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>).

BTW The "blue" is my favourite.

Clay...
I am trying to post a pic of the green(Grrrr) Yeah its grey aluminum/green rubber inserts.

dePaul...
I am lucky indeed to live here, for many reasons. Poor Clay on the other hand has to stand on his head to get one of these delivered(living down-under as it were) <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Hoosier, trust your gut instinct on a <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>s autheniticity. A fake <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> is kind of like an inbred cat- They kind of look proper, but something just isn't right about them. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

RAOFLMAO Chinook <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> I guess all that blood running to my head at least partly explains my behaviour. The rest I put down to old age <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>.

Paul, I found the secret to picking up these unusual <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>'s is to get the mob here searching for them for you. Of course you've got to offer a reward that they can't resist, like a kangaroo scrotum <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>.

Great pix chinook ; my C25's even in there!
Get this : I was on Bladeforums.com and got the opportunity to use one of these early
Centofante's in blue as a "pass around" ( I'm
#3 on the list ). I'll report my finding on this & Bladeforums after I complete my T&E.
( I'll e-mail Sal on this too!<img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> )

I just picked up a blue. I'd like the green and gray? If you know where I may find one to buy or trade let me know.
