Favorite Discontinued model

Post by Jakemug »

Wow, it's been a while guys. I've gotten promoted at work and engaged to a lovely girl since the last time I posted on this site. Never lost my love for Spydercos though, and my collection is still growing albeit slowly.

I'm sorry if this is a recent or common topic, but I was thinking tonight about some discontinued models that I really like. I was also thinking of ways to obtain them since the traditional venues are obviously not carrying them anymore.

Here's a couple of examples I noticed on an auction website that shall remain nameless. I apologize if posting links like this is inappropriate, but, I think it's a good reference as to what's out there when discussing discontinued models.
Please take this down if I'm out of line. Certainly not trying to sell anything, as I know it's forbidden on this site and I respect that.

big fan of the stainless steel Jess Horn, and miss it badly.

There are some older ones I would like to try (Persian gets rave reviews and I've never seen one), but from those I've owned, I really like the older versions of the Cricket -- I like the new one, too, but the old ones are really, really cool. Would love to see creative new sprint run variations on the old design, like the carbon fiber model they did at the end of the 90's.

Metric, you should still be able to grab some Mini Persians if you look. They are in some ways better cutters than the Large Persian as you are closer to the tip and thus for most cutting tasks it gives you better control. Trust me on this one.... get a Mini :D

It is fairly easy arrange to see

http://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34190

more difficult to get. Last time I checked few dealers, all of them are out of C105 75 mm Persians.

I've seen pictures before -- just never examined an actual one up close. It does have a very graceful look.

Also, I wasn't aware that some dealers might have a few stragglers in stock -- I thought it was long gone from years ago. I will have to take a closer look, now!

Probably the Kopa, Kiwi, Dodo, YoJimbo, Lil' Temp and those cool K-series kitchen/utility knives, off the top of my head. Would like a Worker as well.
