My carved/engraved Ladybug

#1

Post by Jazz »

I've been wanting to do this for a long time. Well, I did. It's my first and maybe last engraving a knife attempt. I love how it turned out - it's just more work than I'd like. My rocks are way easier to carve. Here's a before pic with my doodlings...

Image

Here's some lines scribed on it...

Image

At this point I'm scared I wrecked a good knife - I carved most of it with carbide tips and my Dremel tool...

Image

More done, and some background stippling...

Image

Now, sanding before I put in the leaf lines with a vibrating engraving tip...

Holy cow. That is really nice. Great job. I couldn't imagine doing engraving anything near that nice. I engraved my initials on some tools of mine years ago with an engraver and it turned out really really bad. Could barely make out the two letters.

Nice work. So do you have any recent pics of the rocks you mention you normally engrave?
