Delica Four w/Choil
Delica Four w/Choil
Got two of these when they first came out, kept one as is and the other to "mess" with.
First, flat grind the blade(this was before the factory job)and stonewash. Then G11/green scales w/steel lock holder.
Then longed for a Choil, so I designed a new handle that would let a small Choil present itself. I must say I like the feel of the handle. This is black G10 with "flintknaped" texture. What do you think?

SCARAMOUCHE!
That's superb work - I really like the choil and the texture of the handles :)
My spydies: Squeak, Tenacious, Terzuola, D'Allara, UKPK CF peel-ply pre-production, UKPK CF smooth pre-production, UKPK G10 orange leaf-blade, UKPK FRN grey drop-point, UKPK FRN maroon leaf-blade, Bug ... all PE blades :)

Pretty much my idea of the perfect EDC---UKPK with a back-lock,... I'm pleasantly surprised that the Delica can be modded in such a way that the right angled cut-out that the lock fits into isn't exposed as on the paramilitary. Very nice work. The "flint napping" is also, to my further surprise, quite attractive. Good work.

Did the same thing with my G-10 endura 4!
Nice work! - Here's a link to pix of my G-10 endura 4, which I also added a choil to, about a year ago. I liked it so much I then did the same thing on my matching G-10 delica 4! My index finger just wants to be where that hump is...
Cheers,
Doug

Thank you! :)
To get the texture, I used my JL 2 x 72 belt grinder with small wheel attachment(3/4"). Did it by hand, that is why you see random cuts.(no CNC here)
No liners! Does not need! This blade is ground thin, no rough work allowed. :D
If I do rough work, out comes Manix, Para, Strider. Plus, G10 is more rigid than FRN.

Yeah, but realistically -- how many folks are in the Miami Boys Choir, anyway?markg wrote:The Delica has a cult-like following among MBC sorts of folks, and a choil on the Delica would ruin the knife for us, flat out ruin the knife.
There are dozens of other Delica sized knives in the Spyderco line up that have a choil, please for the love of all that is holy leave the Delica alone...
