Why Did Spyderco get away from

Back when I started collecting, SFO recommended Tuf Glide from Sentry Solutions to lube Spydies. Why have you changed to MilTec?

Not an answer to your question, but since my knives see quite a bit of KP, i tend to use mineral oil to lubricate them.

I was never a big fan of Tuf Glide, it seems to dry very fast. I use mineral oil.

Mineral oil for knives that are going to touch food. Tuf-glide for the work or backyard knives. The quick drying of Tuf-glide is a benefit in that it doesn't collect dirt as easily and therefore doesn't have to be cleaned quite as often yet it still lubricates.

Hoppe's 9 Lubricating Oil is good enough for lubricating and protecting my guns, so it's good enough to lubricate and protect my :spyder: s.

Thanks Guys,
Spyderco has always recommended mineral oil for utensils for food handling. Hoppe's is good. I use on my Glocks.
TufGlide is meant to dry quickly. The drying is just the medium (mineral spirits) evaporating for the application of the dry film technology. It's oil free.

Sorry, I'm sure you all know this and I do appreciate your answers.
I'm just wondering why Spyderco switched over after so long recommending TufGlide to Miltec.

THANKS
John

One of the Glessers recommended Ballistol to me years ago. They sold it at the SFO. It's good stuff, and IIRC nontoxic. That being said, FP-10 is by far the best CLP I've used.

I've been racking my brain trying to remember Ballistol since I last posted. I got some at SFO a long while ago too. I tasted it. Didn't die and it tasted G O O D too. ROFLMAO

Don't know if it's coincidence, but Benchmade did just the opposite. When
I first started collecting, they recommended MilTec and then later
switched to Tuff Glide. I still use both. I buy Hoppes #9 by the quart
since I go through so much cleaning my firearms, but I've never used it for
knife lube. I may be the only one in the world that thinks Hoppes has a
Great smell. Most people hate the smell, but the smell reminds me of
good things :D
