Micro Manix is here.... sort of...
well, now I’ve done it.
Please forgive me. I just had to have a smaller, CBBL, robust, tough Spydie. So, as I earlier planned, today I executed my plan. The whole project took me about 3-4 hours, I Didn’t pay too much attention to the time though. I had fun doing it, and got what I was after. That was the point of this.
I used the wetgrinder to shape the blade. The cutting edge is 5,3mm long, less than 2,5 inches. total lengt, 16,3cm, just under 6,5 inches
For the handle, I first used the hacksaw, then dry grinding wheel, and then some sandpaper to shape the handle.
I used the original lanyard hole tube to keep the handle rigid, I just drilled a new hole, and used a small hammer to get the tube in place, and to have a tight fit, just like the original.
I tapped and drilled the clip, and used the standard Delica clip, the same one I had in place earlier, as you can see, it’s worn allready.
(I got a shipment from Spyderco today, the Swick 2 came, and along came some new clips. I ordered a few Gayle Bradley clips, but they were longer than the Delica’s, so I didn’t use them. Odd enough, the screws that came too, were not 5/16inch ones. )
I might shape the blade some more, as well as the handle. Maybe I’ll grind the hump on the spine smaller, and more pointy tip. Maybe I’ll also shape the part above the lanyard hole.
ergo’s are just fine, I have smallish hands, so the grip is good, although tight. Anyone with larger hands might find the grip not so perfect. Then again, I made this to suit my needs.
Now, if we just get Eric to make the official, more generalized Micro Manix :D :D
Here’s some crappy pics:

Very cool. I have been wishing that they'd do another Golden made gent's knife (blade 2-2.5"). Maybe they'll use yours as a model . I almost bought a Leaf Storm until I held one in my hand (the ergonomics were just plain dangerous). Your micro-Manix looks like it would fit the bill nicely.
No man can ask for greater gifts than wisdom and patience.
This is Michael, and I approve of this modification. :D
I'll take two!!!
I'll take two!!!
