They get one of EVERY variant made.
As an example, the Tasman Salt has four variations, Black PE, Black SE, Yellow PE, and Yellow SE.
So the collector would get 4 knives with their number on them, even though they look almost alike.
Another example (from that seller's page) would be these:
Spyderco Delica C11PGRE Collector# ZDP-189 Green
Spyderco Delica C11SGRE Collector# ZDP-189 Green
Spyderco Delica C11PSGRE Collector# ZDP-189 Green
If you look again, there are no doubles. One will be a PE, one a PS edge, one an SE edge, etc.

Until recently there were two "levels" of the Spyderco Collectors Club. You could either sign up for "main piece only" or "all variants". If you were signed up for "main piece only" you received only whichever version of a new model Spyderco designated as the "main" version, so you would only, for example, have only ever received one Delica 4 and it would have your number on it. If you were signed up for "all variants", you'd probably have about 30 Delica 4's by now, as you'd have received every color, edge, handle material, and blade style. All except the "main" version would carry your number with a V suffix added to show they were variants.
This may help...
As with most Spyderco models where a black handled SE version exists, that was the version Spyderco designated as the "main" Atlantic Salt.

When did this change, and how does it work now?The Deacon wrote:Until recently there were two "levels" of the Spyderco Collectors Club. You could either sign up for "main piece only" or "all variants".
I very nearly signed up for the "main piece only" one a few years ago. Probably best that I did not. :)
