Just ordered the CO8s with VG-10

Not an Marine related person

Just like the design of the blade

Do any of You Forumites use it as Your EDC

If so, what applications(not marine related)

do You use it for?

TIA

I've used a Harpy or Merlin for EDC since they first came out in the 80s. First in construction work, then home improvements, and then, after gaining an appreciation for it's capabilities through use, as a whitewater rescue rescue knife. I even use a Merlin in my sheathmaking shop. The hawkbill is an extremely funtional blade shape that needs to be used to fully appreciate.

I've never found anything that goes through double skinned corrugated cardboard boxes like a Harpy does.

The tip just sinks in and the fully serrated harkbill blade just glides through the rest.

You want a quick cut in cardboard?

CRKT BearClaw, Plain edge...

out about as fast as a spydie, and into the material before you know it.

Hey bro, the Harpy is a great choice of knives. You can pretty much use it for all sorts of things that you would need a knife for. A word of caution DO NOT CARRY THIS BLADE IN YOUR LEFT POCKET, UNLESS YOU CHANGE THE CLIP TO THE OPPOSING SIDE! Always carry this knife were the blade is resting against the pocket. I carried this knife is my left pocket at one time and almost lost all my fingers! Other than that I have used this knife for cutting rope, used it as a saw once to cut open industrail grade cardboard, a tooth pick, letter opener, paper cutter, exacto knife. This baby will do it all!!!

Hey, I don't know why it hasn't been mentioned yet--it's great for opening snack bags (e.g., chips, jerky, etc.). It's also ideal for opening "stronger than steel" heavy duty plastic enclosed products (e.g., batteries, toys, small electronics, etc.). I usually carry a PE Merlin but also use the Harpy occasionally.

Just got my Harpy yesterday
What an impressive knife
The blade is what i picture an eagle's claw to look like
Thanks for the tip on carrying
The clip is not ambidexterous
When in RH pocket the blade is toward inside of pocket
If carried in LH pocket the blade is facing the outside of pocket
Maybe I should carry the Meerkat(also got yesterday)until I figure it out
This only the 2nd SE knife I own(the other is a Calypso Jr Micarta)

I have mine for about 6 months now, but don't carry it when going from home. Unfortunately people in Holland are not so keen on knives, only on narcotics.
