if I not misstake, I find this here in the forum (or in the BF), not sure, earlier, year or two ago. I try to find the original thread, but now I can't. also I got two another pics about the pre-version. if I remeber right, it was someones idea, and the Spyderco saw the possibility in it.

Thanx for the reminder Bagulaci.

We can make them. We made the proto shown.
I have one on my desk.

The two issues we ran into was getting it accurate and using eye protection in the form of a tip ring that we put on our knives that are packaged open.

We made it as accurate as we could, but it's not a goniometer, and could be a few degrees off because of the accuracy of your eyes.

We put it on a "hold" shelf and haven't gotten back to it.

I'll see if we can make up a few hundred for a test.

We're going to make a couple of hundred pieces for a test.

At this time, we don't know of the best way to distribute those so we can the best feedback.

Suggestions?

Probably the best way would be through the Factory Store with an advance warning a week or two before they are released.

I would be happy to test one or two for you ;)

I have not been around long enough to have much concept of the preferred methods of distribution. You know far more about that than I do sir. I trust you will come up with something good.

I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.

I'd gladly be a field tester on this, Sal, and can provide feedback in whatever way is most convenient and efficient for Spyderco.

The original design was created by a Russian knife afi. e refined the design. We spoke with him, got his permission and agreed on a royalty agreement. I don't have his name in front of me, but iw we do the design, he will receive his royalty for his effort.

Sal, Any way you could put a 1 per person limit on this product to keep speculation/profit seekers out of it at least at first?

I'm still stinging over missing the last forum knife and seeing certain people buying them 6 or more at a time to turn a profit.

I've wanted a product like this for a couple of decades. Thanks. Joe

I'm thinking the best way would be to allow forum members from here, usn, bladeforums, or wherever else you have subforums in to sign up. That way you can get great feedback from those who aren't spydie fan boys but you still give the spydie fans a chance to own something amazingly unique and rare. No matter what you do.....I must get my hands on one :p

Another option--special edition 303 MF double stuff available from SFO--or some stone-- with "free" spyder gauge. Maybe would increase the odds that someone would use it rather than hoard it.
