I wanted to get a knife for my friend, but I don't know anything about knoves. He had a folding spyderco with a 3 7/8in blade. I am willing to spend around $100. What is the best knife to get him?

If he's an afficionado, the Military.

If he's just a guy who carries a knife... either the Military or the Endura.

Check 'em out. If they're not what you're looking for, let us know...

Are there any other qualifications? Local laws? Do you know what he intends to use it for?

Tucker,
Welcome to the Spydie Forum!!
If the blade was 3 7/8", that might have been a Delica. Maybe. My favorite right now is the Chinese Folder. But you would have to shop around to get one for $100.00(Check E-bay) The Vesuvius is another good choice. I would visit a knife sight, check out all the Spyderco's, find one that appeals to you and buy him that one. Try www.knifecenter.com or www.1sks.com to see some pictures and prices. Good luck.

Hi, Tucker! Welcome aboard to the Forum!

As far as knives, have you looked at a Mouse by Tim Wegner? For around $89 bucks, you can have one cute little knife that will do anything and yet is sheeple friendly. If your interested, check out BladeTech.com.

Another cool knife would be the Chinese Folder by Bob Lum. I carry this knife on weekends as it is such a "good looker", but it too would make a sweet every-day carry knife. The cheapest I've seen it was around $109 over at NewGrahm.com. It comes in either Gunmetal Blue, or Imperial Jade Green.

Good luck!

Hi tucker,
Welcome to the forum. If you don't mind discontinued models there is john jensen
www.johnfjensen.com He has an assortment discontinued co's. I'd been thinking of the Military he has G-10 $90.
Good luck in whatever you find.
Chris

Thanks for all of your responses, I will look into them. I would be willing to spend up to $120. I tried to do a little research on my own and I was wondering what people thought of the "starmate"? Thanks I will look into all of your suggestions.

I have the Starmate and love it. It's got a nice thick blade,G-10 handle, opens and closes slick as you could want, and just has an all around tough look to it.The blade length is another advantage as it's just under 4" for juristdictions like mine that have a 4" limit.
