Fillet o'Paper anyone? It CAN be done!

Post by vampyrewolf »

I was bored, freaked my friends out this weekend.

Had my Calypso jr lt(freshly sharpened on thursday) and they asked how sharp it was... huh? Ever had that question? Here's how to answer:

Took out the daily paper, laid the blade flat against in(while on the table), and lightly moved the blade back and forth.

VOILA!

a nicley shaved, 1/2" fillet of paper. Now they want me to do a few of theirs like that...

Ever wondered how to do it? now you know...

Vampyrewolf.
My hand can't be steady enough, I either get very fine shavings or press too hard (pressing too hard with a sharp Spyderco is a relative term) and go all the way through.

Spyderholic
Glad to have you back.
So it's true what they say, you can't keep a good adict down <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

1> lay the object(paper or book) on the table
2> lay the knife FLAT on the object
3> slowly press lightly until it catches
4> slowly drag the blade back and forth, sawing the fillet off

Took me a few tries to figure out how to do it.

I believe it was Joe Talmadge that told of working on a Calypso Jr (micarta I think) until he was able to split a hair lengthwise.

Disguised as a responsible adult.
