temperence sheath question

Post by uncleknife »

Does the sheath have a clip that can attach to an accessory tab on a pfd (life jacket)?

Thanks in advance.

If it's any help, the sheath for the Morans and the Perrin come with Mini-Tek-Loks from Blade-Tech.

If the Temperance comes with a kydex sheath I would assume it would come with a mini-tek-lok. I don't know how the accessory tab on a pfd works, but you can see the tek-loks here: <a href="http://shop.blade-tech.com/merchant.iht ... &step=4

Of course, I'm just assuming here. And you know what they say about that...

Mike Sastre of River City Sheath, well, a good friend and a highly reliable sheathmaker does produce secure concealex sheaths for paddling and watersports.. I think he also made rigs for PFDs for rescue knives! You can contact this AWESME dude at RiverCitySheaths@aol.com for more details.. Mike's very helpful when it comes to custom sheaths..

uncleknife,

If you are talking about the fixed blade Temperance, it's a little on the big side for attaching to a pfd or use as a rescue knife for boating. Tekloks and the minis are not really suitable for pfd attachment (though it'd work) because they allow too much movement. A rescue knife on a pfd should be low profile to prevent snagging on clothes, gear etc., and mounted in a location that allows immediate access in an emegency, but does not interfere with any movements you may make while boating. You will probably be cutting rope, webbing, etc., so the blade should be serrated. I like the Merlin/Harpy attached to the chest adjustment straps on the side of the pfd, though ideally, I'd like the Merlin in a slightly larger blade with the exact same shape and the thickness of the Harpy blade. The Matriarch, while a good size, is a specialized piece, which can bite you if you don't understand that it works simultaneously in two planes. Thye point is also a little thin for hardcore rescue work. Hope this helps.

Mike
