It's to save weight, supposedly. At least that's what they said about the swedge thing on the Captain...

Thanks for sharing. Nice job snapping photos and relying on our peers to get the details. Any word on where Balance will be manufactured?

Wouter mentions that he added the red acrylic spyderco spyder for size perspective, but how big is that red spyder?

I love the Balance. What a funky design but, I bet it is ergonomically excellent. The Kiwi looks cool as a slipit, but not as elegant as its for-bearers. Clear frn Manix 2 is sick, I haven't got a Manix yet, but will surely pick this one up when it comes out.

I like the JB Rescue and the Kiwi. The Manix2 with translucent FRN...no thanks! I don't like it. I like the heft of the original. I think a heavy handle is fitting for a beefy blade.

I wonder if we'll see a serrated version of the Balance? :D

But... metal handles? Why do that to what looks to be a great knife?

Wouter,

How big is your little acrylic Spydie bug... and more importantly: where can I get one?

Transparent FRN Manix 2 with the brilliant surface texturing & wire clip is a dream come true. Stunning achievement. And the Oscar goes to Spyderco. :D :D

Could this be the forum knife?

Will it have a PE option?

Thank you kindly Wouter. Excellent work.

Man, that clear FRN looks amazing! I really hope Sal and Co. start using that.

The slip-it Kiwi is looking like a must-own for me. Put some good steel in that (H1, VG-10, S30V) and it will definitely be my go-to gentleman's folder.

I'm still drooling over the clear manix. I'd have to see size reference pics for the slipit kiwi (even compared to an original bone kiwi).

Woohoo! :D

A slightly bigger slipjoint Kiwi? Great! This calls for an zero-edge Scandi-grind though.

The Manix 2 in clear FRN is tHa bOMb! I didn't know that good looking knives like the Manix could be made even better looking with translucent scales.
