A small spydie

#1

Post by 80L »

I was looking for a small Spydie as an EDC...to appease the sheeple. I like the mouse, but I don't need anything that $$$. How's the cricket as an EDC? What's your favorite small spydie?>

The Meercat is cheap, check it out.

Otherwise, Mouse apart, my favourite small Spydie is the Navigator - and it's just got better in VG10

The best inexpensive small EDC Spydie is the Dragonfly. The Meercat is alright, though I find it too thick in my pocket. The Cricket is way cool, but a bit specialized for EDC with it's "S" blade.

Agreed, Dragonfly. I have both the FRN and the SS handles. The lightweight is uh, lightweight and the SS is, I think, pretty. Yep, Dragonfly, your choice.

I would go with either Dragonfly or a Meerkat. You should probably also look at the Navigator if you're gonna consider the meerkat. Another choice may be the Salsa. It's a bit bigger, and a bit more expensive, but reasonably sheeple-friendly, and is a large-feeling small blade.

I agree with the above comments, but you really should handle a Cricket first before deciding, if you have the opportunity. What an easy knife to manipulate it is.

Personally my favorite little spydie was always the calypso jr. in SS. I loved that knife and one day my friends evil car ate it. so My vote calypso jr. either handle style

SS Dragonfly rules! I've used mine(plain edge) everyday since I got it in August. Used at work on boxes and such till mid-november(them I left! )

I also have a Tufram Cricket, serrated, that I bought March '01. I don't find as many uses for this one, more for boxes and thread.

SpyderNut,
You trying to spread the CF Virus again? We'll see when I get my CF Civie. I know, the opposite end of the Spydie spectrum from the D'fly but I had to have a CF knife to see if the Virus is real. I hope.

Use to be a cricket but I'm really liking my new Jester. The front perch is awesome.

The Cricket is nifty ... I move around on which one to use as my moneyclip, and today it's the Cricket!

However, the Navigator is always with me as my EDC (& a Jester on the keychain). It's like Sal designed the Navigator for me, it fits so well (and I have a slight preference for it over my Meerkat).

If I could only have one (perish the thought!), it'd be a Navigator.

My vote would be for the SS Dragonfly PE. Mine is fitted and finished really well. It shines like a jewel so it appears less intimidating.

I had a Dragonfly that I was happy with, if it had been Spyder edge, I would still have it. I just ordered the VG-10 SE Navigator for my perminant EDC. RKBA!
