geez, that's a really aggressive looking knife! I can see why I've never seen it on sale here in Australia. Looks like I'll have to look at buying a different model. Thanks for the fast response!

the civilian is, first and foremost, a self-defense knife. It isn't meant to be used for anything else, and in fact, using a Civvie for utility purposes voids the warranty (they can tell when a knife has been abused).

Impyboy, you might want to take a look at the Merlin. It has the same basic shape but is designed for utility not self defense, the blade is much thicker at the tip. Overall the Merlin is a smaller knife, about the size of an Endura.

Merlin is smaller, about the size of an Endura. That would assume that Civvie is bigger. Yikes!

I've not checked the exact measures yet, but do these things come in sizes bigger than Endura? I guess I'll be forced to go back to my reading again <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Dear Impyboy ;

If you want a "cost effective" version of the "Civillian" try the C 12BK "Matriarch"

thanks for the info. I know that the civillian and the Matriarch have the same shape....
I really just wanted to see the shape of the blade coz it wasn't in the online catalog. But looking at the shape, I really don't think I would be able to get my hands on it, knowing the knife laws here in Aust.. It will be illegal here. I doubt it will be anywhere here. i'll have to get it by other means..
thanks anyway!

Impyboy, you can't go wrong with a good ole Delica or Endura, I've carried a fully serrated Endura as my EDC for 6 years, just got my Bob T. Starmate though and it's a nice change of pace but i'll never get rid of my Endura!

Hey Perspective, yeah the civvy is quite a big knife, I thought my Endura was large when I first got it six years ago but now it seems small to me. When I saw a civvy for the first time at a show I thought WOW who's gonna carry that thing around it looks HUGE! It reminded me of Crocodile Dundee "Thats not a knife, THIS IS A KNIFE".
bladelength specs:
civilian - 4.125"
matriarch - 3.625"
endura - 3.75"
if I remember correctly, the matriarch is built on the endura handle/frame

Thanks again, everyone.

I've already got the pics, thanks.
and I've already got two enduras.. i was really just looking to get a different knife. something of better quality than the Aus8 steels on both my Enduras. and maybe something bigger.
as for the Delica.. that was my very first Spydie.. but took it back and exchanged it for the Endura- bigger is definitely better!

Enduras are now being produced with VG-10 steel, much better than aus8, although my Endura is aus8 and has served me well. I'm still getting a new one in vg-10 though.
