I love you gif of the "smiley samurai" splitting the peasant. have you considered making a similar gif, but with the samurai opening a ?????

Just a silly thought.

Big-Target:
Thank you for bringing this up. I have a different opinion. I think Spyderholic's GIF is sick, and more important, is not what is all about. Also, unless Spyderholic is a relative of Sal, I dont understand how Sal, the CEO, (a reasonable person as evidenced by the sharpmaster video) can condone this kind of public illustration of knife handling by an employee. It is not cute, it is not funny. As an analogy, what if Mr. Gaston Glock, a successfull CEO of Glock Pistols, has one of his employees post a little cartoon of Person A shooting the brains out of person B? Good for business? Glock emphasizes safety and common sense in using weapons. Spyderco should not be an exception. I like your idea, Big-Target of a change in the GIF, hopefully for the better.

A pic of the samurai flicking a would be an incredibly cool signature line. Any chance?

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

It was just a lighthearted thought. The worse thing Spyderholic would/could do is say "NO".
But since samurai swords are few and far between, in the online catalog, a would be more fitting!!

Well, wouldn't this "picture subject" fall under the "Freedom of Speech" right? I understand what's being said here, but if Spyderholic wants to put the Samuri in his post, then it is his right to do so.

I say that each of us supporting Spyderholic should put the samuri in our sigs. You thought you saw it enough before?

Spyderholic, Thank You, I am impressed. Understand - my objection is not about Spyderholic but about a little animation endorsing gratuitous violence (that especially kids dont need to see more of), not to mention alienating friends in Seiki City. As Spydernut says, however, you have the right...etc. I enjoy reading Spyderholic's and Vampyrewolf's posts. I will try to lighten up.

**Sarcasim: OFF**
**Flames: OFF**

Bell, you have to realize:

Even though the Spyderco site(and forum) is not very old, we kind of have a family here. If someone has a serious problem with being offended, they ask the other person nicely about it.
I haven't been around here long, and yet I am one of the old timers(along with Clay, Carlos, Samo, etc). I have seen many problems come and go in this forum, and we try to keep it mature enough to deal with any small problems, and keep them small.

I am not putting anyone down in this post, but some people in this forum do not act old enough to handle sharp objects, the way they go off ranting and raving about the actions of another. If you want an example of this, act any old timer about the user "Hannibal" and his attitude.

I am 18 on the 21st(this Thursday), but many people think I'm over 20 already, just on my behavior. I've had knives since I was 5, and have always been around older people. I'm the Youngest Grandchild(of 36) on my Father's side, the Oldest Male Grandchild on my Mother's side(with about 10 grandchildren older). My Sister is 21, her friends are all about 25-35. I'm always around them. Try a mature attitude and look from a couple different angles before you say anything.

Thank you for reading this post. Hopefully it will be the last time I have to climb on anyone. I do enough of it at cadets.

If anyone has a problem with anything I said in this post, email me and keep it private, I don't feel like getting a flamefest going on this forum.

Thank you Vampyre Wolf. It is just a bit of cartoon humor featuring a few stereotype and some exaggeration. It is not meant to harm or insult anyone. If you are insulted well what can I say. I remember the hannibal incident a while back. That got ugly and he was removed. I have been around here for a while now (since late june early july). I am 17 and turn 18 may 26. I usually get similar responses about my age due to my attitude and behavior.

Come on now guys. You are making someone feel unwelcome because they expressed a concern over an animation. If you used a little common sense, you would realize that it puts bladeware in a negative light. I have seen plenty of stupid******around this and other knife related forums over the past year and a half or so, and this rates right up there with it.

I am not gonna jump on someone because they have a non-PC sig, or a non-PC view of the world, God knows that I don't like the PC view. All I expect out of a group of guys and gals on a forum is a little common sense, please use some and exercise discression when necessary. Also, don't try to validate your ideas because you are almost 18 or whatever, age plays no role. I am only slightly older than that, and have been put in my place by people 2-3 times my age enough times to realize I don't have half the experience they do, and I'm supposed to be one of the smart ones. Again, I'm not trying to flame anyone, I'm just saying as a peer that if you can't convince someone with a statement, then you probably are wasting your time.

big-target,

I sure wouldn't feel bad for complimenting Spyderholic on his amusing .gif animation, you started no trouble by doing this.

I can't speak for the other "old-timers", but I find the graphic in question very distasteful. However I'm obviously out of step with the general consensus here so I'll just wander off somewhere and talk boat-building with some other old-timers.
