A 2010 Forum Knife Proposal

#1

Post by Raqudu »

Good morning everyone! One of the things I love about this forum is the self-moderation when a thread turns from spirited discussion to heated and contentious by the application of the Balm of Peace, Peanut Butter and Jelly. Processed through my admittedly warped mind, this brought an idea for the next Forum knife - the PBJ.

Start with an Endura IV trainer. Produce the blade without the extra holes, only the Spyderhole. Add scales of Peanut Butter (OIF Tan) on one side and Grape Jelly (Forum Native Purple) on the other. The result? The perfect PBJ spreader.

There are also some options. If the FRN mold kicks out both left and right scales at the same time, there could be right-hand and left-hand versions. (I won't speculate on which color constitutes the RH or LH. :) ) For those in need of faster access to the PBJ, the blade could be based on the waved trainer.

OK, I'll stand back as the peanut butter flies. :D

I faced this problem myself this morning. The back side of a FFG leaf blade is excellent for spreading peanut butter, but the problem is stirring it.

I used to roast peanuts and then grind my own peanut butter. Trader Joe's is just as good and they do something I can't; they use chopped super crunchy blistered peanuts for their crunchy style. So the only problem is pouring a bit of separated oil out of the newly opened jar and mixing in the remaining oil. I don't have a Spyderco that can do this without danger of cutting through the plastic bottom. The blunt end Caspian looks promising, but my Caspian has the pointed tip. The youtube review of the Spyderco Blunty has been taken down for terms of use violation, so possibly he accidentally got his hands on an early PBJ prototype and Spyderco acted to stem the leak.

So sign me up for the 2010 Forum PBJ. It looks like just the thing for those of us that take our peanut butter seriously.

Good thread it made me laugh, but seriously count me in for a PBJ.

LOL This is a great way to start a morning/afternoon. The Family Guy version of "peanut butter Jelly time!" is my ringtone for when my wife calls.

I'd order one, too!

My wife just laaaaaauuuughed. As I get more and more awake I gotta say that I really do like the idea. It'd also be a great trainer (as long as your partners don't mind PBJ marks on their shirts. )

I Think this would be a pretty good idea but leave a small bevel towards the edge nothing SUPER sharp just a slight bit of a rounded bevel so you can slice your PBJ sandwhiches or take the crust off. Make it a slip it maybe? No need for a locking PBJ knife
