Matriarch

Post by Glenn »

I noticed that Knifecenter on the internet is selling the Matriarch. My understanding is that the Matriarch is a LEO item only and I was curious if Spyderco policy had changed.

Spy De,
The heading over at KnifeCenter may be "Civilian and Matriarch," but the link only takes you to the G-10 Civilian.

Yeah, it looks like somebody must have said something because that link is cut. You can still see it by going to the news section where they have a link to the Matriarch. It is kind of funny because it is now listed as new, instock and discontinued and unavailable. This morning you could link through the Spyderco page and it was just new and instock. They were going to sell it for $59.95.

I was about to get one but now the "instock" flag has been removed as well.

I just checked again and it is just like it was in the morning. You can it reach through the Spyderco section and it is listed as being new and in stock. Interesting

You're right. Maybe they're doing some maintenance on their system or something since it behaving rather erratically. There may be hope yet.

This should put an end to the speculation: I placed an order at Knifecenter this morning. The knife was listed as being "new" and "in stock."

I just got an email from them saying that the knife is "discontinued and unavailable." Oh well...

Hi everyone,

I thought I could assist in clearing up the status and availability of the Matriarch & Civilian. We will indeed be producing the Matriarch in 2001. Both of these knives were designed specifically for the law enforcement and military personnel. In 2001 it will be law enforcement and military suppliers who will have stock of these items. Because delivery will be limited we will require our reps to prequalify the customers.

Hi Michelle. Thanx for the input.

I would also like to add that the Civilian and Matriarch were not designed and are not intended for "general use". The tips are too thin for general use, and as such will not be warranteed for that. Cutting seatbelts, etc. is best done with a thicker tip. This is one of the reasons to avoid general sales.

I got mine! *hee-hee!* Speaking about the tip, I totally agree about not having the matriarch or civillian as a general utility blade!!! Errrr, what does the LEO guys do when they broke the matriarch or the civvie's tip? Do they get replacements? Or have a new tip ground?

Both the gray and the black handle C12S Matriarchs are available to law enforcement personnel.

We have both in stock. If you qualify have your favorite dealer call us. Note, we do not knowingly sell to deep discounting dealers. Or call Wright Knives on 1-800-400-1980 as he (Dennis) is a stocking dealer.

Help --------- !

As a result of the above post we have received several phone calls from individuals wanting to buy a C12SBK or C12SGY and had to disappoint them. Here is why you should not call us for a purchase:

1) We are a Spyderco distributor, not a dealer. We do not sell retail, we only sell to retailing dealers and law enforcement and military agencies. You need to call a retail dealer to make your purchase.

2) C12S Matriarchs can only be sold to law enforcement and military personnel. Paramedic and firemen are not qualified.

3) When a dealer sells a C12S he/she is required to verify the individual's qualifications either by their personal knowledge or seeing proper identification (a badge without ID does not qualify).

We do not want to offend anyone, but, rules are rules. Spyderco establishes the rules and we abide by them. So do not ask us to break the rules, at any price.

Thanks for your cooperationand we apologise to any who misinterpreted our above post.

John
